Colonel Kashirin

Colonel Kashirin was a Soviet Political Operative, and the captain of the Russian freighter Barasheebo, which was docked in Tokyo harbor and secretly armed with a nuclear missile intended for use against Godzilla. When Godzilla attacked Tokyo and damaged the Barasheebo, the weapons systems malfunctioned and began automatically counting down to fire. Kashirin, mortally wounded from Godzilla's attack, vainly sacrificed his life trying to stop the launch.

Comments

In the American release of Godzilla 1985, Kashirin's death scene was changed so that he actually causes the launch of the nuclear missile, rather than nobly trying to stop it as in the original version.
