Biography

Dorrek VII was a male member of the Skrull race who was an inhabitant from the Andromeda Galaxy. He was noted to have had a younger brother named Prince Dezan who was a Skrull that had peaceful ideals for his people that ultimately cause him to be imprisoned on Kral and forced to wear an inhibitor mask suppressing his shapeshifting power. (Avengers Annual v1 #14) Dorrek VII came to power when he killed the ruling emperor thus claiming the throne for himself and married his predecessors daughter R'Klll who became the ruling empress of the great Skrull Empire. (Fantastic Four v1 #206) At some point, Dorrek had a daughter named Anelle who was courted by the warlord Morrat though her father the sovereign king refused to consent to a marriage. (Fantastic Four v1 #37) Sometime afterwards, a Skrull named Krimonn attempted an assassination on Dorrek in order to claim the throne but failed in the attempt. As punishment, the emperor had Krimonn imprisoned in the Power Prism and turned into a powerful weapon. (Iron Man v1 #65) In recent years, the Skrull empire had dispatched several intelligence-gathering missions to Earth with all failing to return except for one. Emperor Dorrek VII ordered Skrull capain Zankor to investigate Earth in order to determine whether the primitive world was worthy of conquest. Thus, he provided the captain with an Encephalo-Link that contained the memories of captured human captives allowing Zankor to proceed with the infiltration of Earth society. (Marvel: The Lost Generation v1 #11)

The planet Earth continued to interest Dorrek who dispatched trained spies with infiltrating the planet but they were discovered and defeated by the Fantastic Four. In the aftermath, the Emperor devoted all his world's resources in finding a means of conquering both the Fantastic Four and Earth. This led to his scientists creating the Super-Skrull who was empowered through technology with all the abilities of the Fantastic Four. He was then dispatched to Earth with the goal of defeating the superheroes. (Fantastic Four v1 #18)

At the conclusion of the Kree/Skrull War, the Skrulls were visited by the Illuminati who warned the alien shapeshifters to stay away from Earth. They were briefly captured but managed to escape though their genetic material was studied by the Skrull scientists. (New Avengers: Illuminati v2 #1) Years ago, emperor Dorrek came to the Skrull world of Satriani to check the progress of their scientists in acquiring the genetic material of the Earth attackers. However, he was confronted by Princess Veranke of the Tyeranx Seven Province who headed a large religious group among her people. She was driven by prophecy stating that ruin was coming to the Skrull empire and that the emperor was ignoring these warnings. For her actions, Dorrek had her taken away and exiled to a planetoid whilst he ordered the Royal Priest of Sciences to begin research in infiltration of Earth. (New Avengers v1 #40)

After his armada was routed by the Prime Thoran, Dorrek VII came to consider his life to be in danger if he confronted the lone Xandarian. Thus, he decided to retreat to the homeworld but was assassinated by R'Kll as she deemed this an act of cowardice. After declaring him a traitor, she took command and decided to muster more ships for an attack on Xandar. (Fantastic Four v1 #209) He was survived by a grandson who was taken to Earth and given the identity of Theodore "Teddy" Altman with him being unaware of his parentage. (Young Avengers v1 #11)
