Biography
Jeanne Foucault was a dark haired human female born on Earth who lived in the modern age. (Avengers Academy v1 #2)
Her talents as a polymath aided in her graduating from M.I.T. when she was 14 years old. Later on, she was training for the Olympics when she was discovered by Norman Osborn. (Avengers Academy v1 #1)
Afterwards, she came to be recruited into the Avengers Academy alongside five other students that had been affected by Osborn. (Avengers Academy v1 #1) Whilst having breakfast, the young heroes were interrupted by an attack from the reactivated Arsenal. Jeanne managed to find the weaknesses in shutting down the robot and also concluded that its setting had been toned down to non-lethal where she concluded that it was used as part of a training exercise against the team. It was eventually discovered that Quicksilver had Arsenal rebuilt and reprogrammed for training though this was not with the approval of the other staff members. She urged her team mates to learn from the Avengers and they could make the decision on their fate when they had learnt everything they could from their mentors. Afterwards, Foucault came to blackmailed Quicksilver into training her in the way Magneto had trained him. (Avengers Academy v1 #2)
The faculty then suggested that its students spend sometime with their families though Finesse came to believe that the people who raised her were not her parents. She then spoke to Quicksilver to get some advice where he agreed to help target a suspected lair of the Taskmaster. After rummaging through the site, he left Jeanne behind to go through documents where she was ambushed by the Taskmaster. The two battled where she revealed her suspicion that she believed he was her father with the mercenary commenting on their similar abilities. Initially, his talents overpowered her but Finesse managed to turn the fight around until Taskmaster called off their battle. He then told her that he suspected that Jeanne may be his child but he had no memory of fathering an offspring and he was not sure as his memory was faulty. Jeanne then requested to test his DNA with her own but he refused as he did not want anyone to have leverage on him. Taskmaster then departed but gave words of advice to Finesse where he told her to continue to train at Avengers Academy and believed that this path was one where she could only improve herself in the future. She later came to work with Seeker leading to her being dispatched to break into G.I.R.L. leading to her fighting and winning against Nadia van Dyne. (Unstoppable Wasp v2 #3)
Rappaccini decided to trigger a device in defeat to destroy the laboratory and left her people behind to die. Afterwards, Finesse was arrested but was recruited by G.I.R.L. where she showed an aptitude for science and became an ally to the team. (Unstoppable Wasp v2 #10)
Overview
Personality and attributes
In appearance, she was a young dark haired woman with short hair with attractive features with her acknowledging this to others. (Avengers Academy v1 #2)
She claimed that she never made mistakes and was confident about her talents. (Avengers Academy v1 #1) Jeanne felt that knowledge was power. (Avengers Academy v1 #2) Finesse claimed to love weapons that could deal serious damage to her opponents but was forced to use non-lethal weapons during her time at Avengers Academy as her teachers refused the use of bladed weapons. (Avengers Academy v1 #9)
It was said that Jeanne lacked any socialization skills such as empathy, patience for normal people and similar such talents. Psychological assessments were unsure whether this was a skill she struggled to learn or whether this marked her as a budding sociopath. (Avengers Academy v1 #1) She claimed that people were the one foreign language she could not understand. This lack of skill meant that she tended to be blunt and state matter of facts without any social graces that could lead to another person being humiliated in a group. She apologised for any emotional hurt she caused though did not understand them. In one case, she apologised to Reptil by stating in a group that he had never kissed a girl and stated that she would kiss him in front of a group as an apology. She had no inhibitions holding her back or hesitation in kissing him though to her it was simply a task to complete. Jeanne herself said that she understood the mechanisms of psychology but despite that people and her own actions sometimes surprised her. (Avengers Academy v1 #2)
Foucault wanted to be trained by the Avengers as she felt that there was so much they could teach her. (Avengers Academy v1 #2)
Her parents were akin to being an open book to her and they enjoyed any acclaim to fame that she managed to attain from her achievements. However, they were reluctant about her joining the Avengers and wanted her to continue a career in the Olympics. Jeanne instead decided to be a superhero as she reasoned that her rivals were already looking to ban her from the Olympics on grounds of her superhuman abilities. Finesse came to believe that her parents were not her biological parents and instead she noted her similarities to Taskmaster. Thus, she came to suspect that Taskmaster might be her biological father. (Avengers Academy v1 #2)
Powers and abilities
As a polymath, she was able to acquire skills and knowledge at an accelerated rate. She was able to learn an incredible amount at amazing speeds with her able to pick up skills, languages, fighting techniques and other such traits. (Avengers Academy v1 #1) This led to her rapidly going through her education and developing her knowledge base. According to Jeanne, she had solved the mysteries of the electromagnetic spectrum before she bought her first training bra. By the time she got her learners permit, she stated that she had mastered robotics with her not having any difficulty understanding math, science and engineering. Jeanne was able to learn more skills within the matter of minutes. (Avengers Academy v1 #2)
The source of her abilities was initially unknown with her testing negative the Mutant gene or other paranormal factors. (Avengers Academy v1 #2)
