Forgiven (Marvel)

The Forgiven are a team that feature in Marvel Comics.

History

The Forgiven were an elusive clan of vampires that were brought together by Raizo Kodo. (Fear Itself: Hulk vs. Dracula v1 #2)

Raizo Kodo and his clan came to infiltrate Castle Dracula during the Serpent crisis when the Hulk became one of the Worthy. This saw him going on a rampage as he headed to Dracula's castle in Translyvania. The Forgiven came to arrive at the where they bypassed the vampire's security and offered their aid. (Fear Itself: Hulk vs. Dracula v1 #1) This saw the clan being sent to attack the Hulk whilst he was in Romania with Kodo looking to find a way to defeat their foe who was easily making his way past the Vampire Nation's forces. (Fear Itself: Hulk vs. Dracula v1 #2)

Jubilee was in Europe with the Forgiven as she tried to adjust to her life as a vampire with Kodo attempting to wean her off human blood. (X-Men v3 #24)

They later received a vision from a Moksha Sect seer that spoke of the pool of penance that cleansed each of the Forgiven being targeted by the Red Hulk. Thus, they moved to stop the monster thinking it was his goal but came to realise that he simply wanted to purge spirits that were haunting him. After seeing this, Raizo Kodo apologised and stated that if he ever required their aid then he could call upon the Forgiven's help in the future. (Hulk v2 #51)

Overview

Its members had to choose to reject the most basic nature of vampirism. They considered themselves to be the only true free vampires as others were slaves to their nature. (X-Men v3 #24)

The path of the Forgiven was said to be a long and difficult one. Not all handled it the exact same way but all of them began it identically. (X-Men v3 #24)

A tool used by them were lightbenders that they could wear as pendants that allowed them to walk in the sunlight without harm. (X-Men v3 #24)
