Biography
Original Timeline
Goro was a male member of the Shokans race and was part of the royalty where he was a Prince among his people with him reigning for 2,000 years in the realm of Outworld. Over 500 years, he had fought numerous foes and remained undefeated with none surviving a confrontation with him. He was eventually selected to be the protector of the sorcerer Shang Tsung and was selected to take part in the Mortal Kombat Tournament. After participating in the tournament, he succeeded in defeating the Shaolin monk Kung Lao and winning the title of Grand Champion. As a result of this victory, the Mortal Kombat Tournaments fell into Shang Tsung's hands allowing the sorcerer to corrupt it. During the modern tournament, the Shokan Prince was defeated at the hands of the Great Kung Lao's descendant Liu Kang. Following his defeat, a new Shokan named Kintaro was chosen to serve as his replacement. Despite Goro's defeat, he had survived the encounter with Liu Kang and resurfaced years later in a quest to get his revenge against his foe. Afterwards, he came to lead the Shokan warriors though his people had fallen out of favor with Emperor Shao Kahn causing him to instead support Goro's peoples ancient foes the Centaurs. At the time, Princess Kitana had raised an army to challenge the Outworld Emperor and managed to convince Goro along with his forces to side with her to destroy Shao Kahn. It was rumored that Kahn had been weakening with Goro participating in a battle against Kano's militia but he was attacked from behind by the shadow warrior Noob Saibot. It was believed Goro was killed in the attack and he lay dying on the battlefield until he regained consciousness. At that time, Shao Kahn had found the Shokan warrior and used the remaining power he had left to revive Goro. The Emperor offered a deal to Goro namely his aid in destroying the rising powers that challenged him in Outworld and in exchange he would return the Shokan their favoured status whilst banishing the Centaurs. Goro accepted the offer and pledged his allegiance once more to his old master where they hid his demise before going into hiding. His seal was found on a slain Shokan warrior with the rest of Outworld believing that Goro had been slain though in reality he had accompanied Shao Kahn in gathering their strength for the coming battle.
Goro helped Shao Kahn to become the Emperor of Outworld again. Along with Shang Tsung, he aided Shao Kahn in reclaiming his stronghold, which was occupied by the Edenian forces led by Mileena. The three crushed all who defended the stronghold, and with their combined might destroyed the reinforced door that guarded the throne room. Mileena then surrendered, and Shao Kahn became Emperor once more. Later on, Goro was confronted by Taven in Shao Kahn's Fortress. The Edenian demigod wished to kill Quan Chi but in order to do so he had to get through Goro first, fighting him on the Balcony. Taven eventually defeated Goro, who stormed off, telling Taven that if they were to meet in the battle field he would not be so lucky. Goro then joins the Forces of Darkness where he was killed somewhere in the middle of the Battle of Armageddon.
Reboot Timeline
During the Armageddon, Shao Kahn ultimately won where all of creation faced destruction but during the last moments of Raiden he managed to his past experiences back to his younger self. This created a change in the timeline as the younger Raiden was guided by the scattered visions of the future where he sought to avert this dark future. Goro celebrated nine consecutive victories in Mortal Kombat and brought more honor to the Shokan race with each victory. He entered the Mortal Kombat tournament to fight for Outworld and to help the emperor, Shao Kahn, achieve his goal: to conquer Earthrealm. Goro appeared in his lair where he confronted the last remaining Earthrealm warrior, Liu Kang. Although Goro was considered a mighty warrior and had experience on his side, he was defeated by Liu Kang, who later defeated the sorcerer Shang Tsung, winning the Mortal Kombat tournament and assuring freedom for Earthrealm. Goro was later seen along with Sheeva at the beginning of the second tournament in Shao Kahn's throne room. He offers Shao Kahn a Ying Yang seal. Kahn inspects the seal, then hands it back to Goro. Later on, Goro found Liu Kang in the Tower searching for Kitana, Goro tried to challenge Liu Kang, but ended up fighting Kung Lao instead. The Shaolin Monk was victorious, avenging the death of his ancestor, the Great Kung Lao. After defeating Goro, Kung Lao demanded the location of Kitana, Goro told them that she was to be found in the Coliseum, but he had no doubt she was going to be executed. Enraged by Goro's words, Liu Kang knocked him unconscious. Goro later appeared guarding Earthrealm prisoners alongside Kintaro and Kano, and was frozen by Cyber Sub-Zero. Both Goro and Kintaro broke free of the ice and faced the former Lin-Kuei in a two-on-one match, but the two Shokan ended up losing to the cyborg.
It was said that his service to Shao Kahn led to him bringing much honor to the Shokan race. Among his blood achievements included crushing rebellions and conquering provinces.
