Hobson

Hubson was the Carew family's butler. When Mr. Hyde attacked Muriel Carew, Hobson joined General Carew in coming to her rescue. During the scuffle, Hyde tried to strangle Hobson, however Carew pulled the attacker off of the butler. After this Hobson was unable to prevent Hyde from murdering the General and escaping.
