Mind Lord

During Athas's Green Age, the Mind Lords were powerful psionicists, possibly the most powerful Athas has ever seen. They had a powerful vision of the future, of the Cleansing Wars, and of the current age, and took steps to hide the small valley containing their city of Sarangar, on the shore of an inland sea (then known as "Marnita") from the Champions of Rajaat. Over a period of several hundred years, they transferred their conciousness into obsidian orbs, and have continued to rule Sarangar for over 9,000 years, though they have sacrificed part of their sanity to preserve their homelandd.

Their hidden valley is a lush paradise, much as it was during the Green Age, and Marnita is possibly the planet's largest surviving body of open water, now known as The Last Sea. It is known to be the last remaining home of Athasian dolphins. It is also home to a small band of Lizard Men that the Mind Lords sheltered from Keltis.

The Mind Lords transfer the minds of other psionicists into obsidian orbs, though without their personalities or conciousness, in order to create guardians that can hide their valley, or warn of intruders without needing sleep or becoming distracted.
