Mirajane Strauss

Mirajane Strauss is a female anime and manga character who features in Fairy Tail.

Biography

Mirajane Strauss (Japanese: ミラジェーン・ストラウス, Hepburn: Mirajēn Sutorausu) was a human born in Earthland where she was the eldest sibling of Elfman Strauss and Lisanna Strauss. It was known that when she was young that her parents had died leading to the Strauss siblings becoming orphans as a result. At 13 years old, Mirajane helped save a town by defeating a demon that had taken over a church. However, her magical power first came to manifest when she took on some of the creature's appearance. This led to the townspeople scorning her and her siblings as they believed she was a monster. As a result, the Strauss siblings had no choice but to leave the area and came to wander for a time. This was until one day they came upon the Fairy Tail magical guild which was where Mirajane first learnt that she was not possessed but that her power allowed her to adopt demonic characteristics. The Strauss siblings came to join the guild though despite learning of her power Mira came to think she was a monster. One day, she even attempted to leave Magnolia but were stopped by her brother Elfman and sister Lisanna who had come to learn their own version of her Take Over magic so that she would not feel alone.

She later came to greet Lucy Heartfilia when she first arrives at the Fairy Tail Guild and a large scale brawl begins due to Natsu Dragneel. Lucy asks Mirajane if she is supposed to stop it, and Mirajane replies that it happens all the time. When she is hit on the head by a bottle, she starts to bleed but is otherwise unfazed, stating that it's more fun like this, much to the shock of Lucy. Later, Mirajane explains Natsu's past to Lucy, and the pain that all Mages in Fairy Tail share. Later on, she informed Levy, Jet, and Droy, that Natsu, Lucy, and Happy had already taken the job at Everlue Mansion. Afterwards, she was responsible for explaining to Lucy about the regular meeting of the Guild Masters of different provinces, and about Dark Guilds. Later, when Erza arrives and tells Natsu and Gray that they are going on a mission with her, Mirajane welcomes Erza back and remarks that theirs could very well be the strongest team in Fairy Tail. However, she is worried that the three are incapable of working together without arguing, so asks Lucy to tag along as a mediator. Later, Mirajane sends Makarov a letter informing him about the newly formed team, much to Makarov's dismay. Mirajane also helped explain to Lucy about the S-Class Mages and the Guild's rule regarding the second floor She came to be visibly upset when she finds that Happy stole an S-Class mission during the night. She soon learns that Laxus did nothing to stop him and she gives him a frightful glare. Afterwards, the guild hall came under attack in the night by their rivals the Phantom Lord guild. This left their headquarters in disarray and by the next day they were attempting to repair it. Team Natsu would return to Fairy Tail with Mirajane taking them to the basement to explain to them about the recent attack. She then tells an inebriated Makarov to behave as he starts to spank Lucy for taking a S-Class mission, despite only giving Natsu and Gray a smack on the head. Later, after Makarov loses his power, Mirajane and Cana Alberona try to call Mystogan and Laxus back to the guild to assist the war effort. However, as Laxus badmouths the guild and starts to harass her, Mirajane loses her patience with him and destroys the Communication Lacrima with one punch, questioning aloud how someone in Fairy Tail can be so cruel.[21] As Phantom Lord descends, she declares she can't battle and instead transforms into Lucy. However, she is captured and taken as a hostage. Her capture helps Elfman regain his lost Magic, Full Body Take Over, and gives him the ability to defeat Element 4's Sol. After defeating Sol, Elfman makes his way to Mirajane, freeing her and apologizing to her for again taking the form that killed their sister. However, Mirajane comforts him and figures out how to stop the Abyss Break. They later catch up to Gray, who has just defeated Juvia, and explain the details to him, then join up with Erza who has just defeated Aria. Master Jose then arrives, complimenting them before taking Elfman and Gray out instantly. She is later seen waking, and retreating when Master Makarov arrives. After the Guild War ends, she was later seen celebrating the Guild's victory.

Mirajane provides Lucy with a 'special job' that she has been saving. Mirajane, along with Makarov, Bob, Goldmine and Yajima, goes to watch Team Natsu as they perform. She is later seen explaining to Elfman about Natsu and Gray's pillow fight, and why they were arguing about it. Mirajane then has to inform all of Loke's girlfriends that she doesn't know his whereabouts. Mirajane plays a beautiful ballad for everyone when Team Natsu returns from Tower of Heaven, and as Natsu starts a huge fight, she switches to a rock song, complete with wardrobe change. The next day, she is apprehended by Gajeel Redfox so he can perform his own song. Later, she performs as the returning champion in the Miss Fairy Tail pageant. She apparently shoots down all hopes of winning as she turns her head into Happy and Gajeel's, turning into the latter in retaliation for apprehending her the other day. She is then turned to stone by Evergreen, along with the other girls. Once Erza defeats Evergreen in battle, Mirajane and the other participants in the Miss Fairy Tail contest return to normal. She is later seen after Fried defeats Cana. Elfman tries to fight Fried, but is easily defeated. Fried then keeps attacking Elfman even after he's no longer able to fight, making Mirajane beg for him to stop. When Fried attempts to kill Elfman with his Magic, Mirajane finally snaps. The clouds part as she lets out a scream and a huge burst of Magic Power destroys the terrain around her. She activates her Magic, Take Over: Satan Soul. As she and Fried begin to battle, she completely overwhelms him in both power and speed. As their battle progresses, Fried remarks that the only way to beat a Demon is with a Demon, and he uses his Dark Écriture: Darkness which turns him into a Demon, but even then, Mirajane continued to easily overpower him. Just as she is about to finish Fried off, she has a vision of her younger sister Lisanna, and decides to spare his life. She then begins talking to Fried about the guild members, making Fried cry. The battle ends as a draw, since Fried was defeated and Mirajane had lost her will to fight. Later, she is seen on Fantasia Parade, along with her brother, Elfman, where she appears from a rose and then transforms herself into a giant gecko-like animal. Mirajane explains to everyone about the Dark Guilds, and greets Makarov when he tells everyone about the plan to destroy Oración Seis. Makarov and Mirajane speak a little bit about Oración Seis and their connection with Jellal. After the battle and when Wendy joins the Fairy Tail Guild, Mirajane is seen explaining Gildarts' history to Lucy as he returns

Overview

Personality and attributes

In appearance, Mirajane Strauss was a young slim human woman of below average height with long, white hair curled slightly at the ends that had two bangs framing her face and reaching down to her chest as well as a short, upward ponytail obtained by gathering and tying the hair covering her forehead. She was given the nickname of Mira (ミラ Mira) by those close to her and her abilities as well as skill led to her being known as the Demon (魔人 Majin).

In her younger years, Mirajane was shown as being quite different where she was a feared person who was infamous amongst guilds and criminals alike. In that time, she dressed in a punk-gothic style where she was temperamental and tended to bad-mouth everyone.

Initially, she used to have a rivalry with Erza when they were young children.

At first, she was shown as being withdrawn and held reservations about who she was due to her Demon-like powers. This was despite Makarov's attempts at assuring her that her ability was simply a kind of magic. Mirajane though came to question whether she was even human due to her power.

The seeming death of her younger sister Lisanna greatly affected Mirajane who came to lose much of her magical ability and will to fight as well as led to drastic changes in her personality.

By the present day, Mirajane was shown to be a loving and caring person who treated her friends and even strangers with kindness. She was rarely shown to be in a bad mood and tolerated all the eccentricities of her guild mates. Mira had a motherly role within the Fairy Tail guild where she was often seen running the bar at the guild hall.

She believed that when a person realised how lonely it was to be alone then they came to be kind to others.

Her beauty and looks led to her often serving as a model in Sorcerer Magazine (週刊ソーサラー Shūkan Sōsarā).

Powers and abilities

Mirajane Strauss was a human who had the potential for using Magic (魔法 Mahō) which allowed her to become a Mage (魔導士 Madōshi). From a young age, she came to manifest Take Over (接収テイクオーバー Teiku Ōbā) just like her siblings. The nature of her Take Over power allowed her to control Demons and manipulate them to do her bidding. With it, she could cause demons to simultaneously explode or she could possess them if they were at the brink of death thus saving them but their bodies were under her control afterwards. In her case, Mira's signature ability was called Satan Soul' (サタンソウル Satan Sōru) where it allowed her to take on the powers and appearance of creatures that she had known. Its initial manifestation can result in a large magical blast which destroyed the surrounding area.

Mirajane had proven herself proficient in close combat with the aid of Satan Soul, employing such style as her main form of offense. She was shown capable of clashing with Azuma with extremely fast and accurate strikes, matching him evenly despite the latter’s use of his explosions alongside hand-to-hand combat. She was able to be hit by Azuma's explosions and still remain active to continue the battle.

Following 3-month training in X791, she was able to adopt her Satan Soul form multiple times without experiencing fatigue.

In addition, she was familiar with the use of the following techniques:

• Sleep Magic (眠りの魔法 Nemuri no Mahō) : she was shown to be able to cast Sleep Magic allowing her to easily put Lucy to sleep in a moment during the battle between the Fairy Tail and Phantom Lord.
• Transformation Magic (変身魔法 Henshin Mahō) :

• Sleep Magic (眠りの魔法 Nemuri no Mahō) :

In the Kingdom of Fiore (フィオーレ王国 Fiōre Ōkoku), she came to be a member of the Fairy Tail (妖精の尻尾フェアリーテイル Fearī Teiru) guild where she stood as one of their strongest wizards and was an S-Class mage.
