At some point in the past, he was noted to had encountered an evil plant-like counterpart named Evilseed. Following a battle, he was able to imprison Evilseed who he kept trapped within a cell in the Root Cellar.

By the modern age, Evilseed came to be unintentionally freed by Orko who had mistakenly believed the villain to had been Moss-Man.

Masters of the Universe: Revelations

Moss Man used his powers to command all plant life to defend the heart of Castle Grayskull from the evil Skeletor. Although Moss Man made himself grow to an impressive size and powerful form, Skeletor used his Havoc Staff to shoot fire at Moss Man, burning the Nature God to a crisp in front of a shocked He-Man and Teela. After this, Skeletor picked up one of the remaining vines that had been part of Moss Man and mockingly mentioned that it smelled like pine. For his noble sacrifice, Moss Man was awarded a place in the Eternian heaven known as Preternia, where he became one with the forest, and only occasionally appeared in humanoid form to speak to the other inhabitants. Adam was also allowed into Preterna, and when he carved a tombstone for Orko, he asked Moss Man to allow some Trollan flowers to grow around it as decoration. Moss Man did not take part in the Wild Hunt, a wild chase enjoyed by most of the Preternian heroes. Some time later, Evil-Lyn obtained the Sword of Power and claimed the Power of Grayskull for herself, thereby becomming God-Lyn. While adressing all the people of Eternia, she opened a gate to Preternia and destroyed it, blowing all of the Heroes and Heroines living in this realm, including Moss Man, to atoms.
