History

Eventually, the Neosapiens grew frustrated and angry at their inferior status, and fought a war for independence that only ended with the development of the first Exoframes. The Neosapiens were ultimately granted provisional control of Mars, although they were forbidden to build weapons. However, years later, the charismatic leader Phaeton rallied his people in an invasion of the solar system, using secretly-constructed ships and Exoframes to establish the Neosapien Commonwealth while the Exofleet was occupied battling Jonas Simbacca's pirates.

Eventually, however, a combination of local resistance groups, outside attacks by the returned Exofleet and later the allied Pirate Clans, and increasing dissension among the Neosapien ranks led to the Empire's collapse. At war's end, a batch of Neosapiens was due to be designed that could procreate, while the government of Earth strove to forge a new, balanced peace between humans and Neosapiens.

Overview

Neosapiens were a race of genetically engineered humanoids created by humans to work as their servants on Mars. Unlike normal humans, Neosapiens have blue skin, enhanced strength, senses and dexterity, and stand about a foot taller than the average human. However, they were incapable of procreation, and more could only be grown artificially.

Their kind had more acute hearing allowing them to detect sounds further than humans and their eyes were equally better though this made them vulnerable to sudden bursts of light such as from flash grenades that blinded them to a more extreme extent than humans. (Episode: Resist) They had the capacity to hold a higher level of oxygen supply within their bodies when compared to humans allowing them to survive in environments that would normal kill a human being due to a lack of oxygen. (Episode: Hidden Terrors)

Neosapiens were noted for their perfect and flawless memory. (Episode: Abandoned) It was said that Neosapiens were not wired to think in the same way as humans. (Episode: Hidden Terrors) In fact, their brains were coded to respond in a certain way making them incapable of creativity with this being considered their greatest weakness. (Episode: Resist)

The species were genetically engineered and bred artificially in a brooding process that required vats of special chemicals. (Episode: Abandoned)

Notes

  • Although the name "Neosapien" is probably intended to mean "new man," it actually translates to "new thinker"- ironic considering the Neosapiens' lack of creativity.
