Oddjob is a male literary character who features in James Bond.

Biography

Oddjob was a former Asian wrestling champion, whose favored weapon is a razor-tipped hat that he throws at his enemies. He clashed once with James Bond, while working for the megalomaniac Auric Goldfinger. He and Bond fought inside of the gold depository at Fort Knox after being locked inside. He died when, while trying to retrieve his hat from where it had become wedge between some metal bars, Bond touched a live wire to the bars, electrocuting Oddjob.

Powers and abilities

He wears a bowler hat with a sharpened steel rim, using it as a lethal weapon in the style of a chakram (an Indian throwing weapon) or a flying guillotine. It is powerful and capable of cutting through steel and decapitating a stone statue.

Oddjob acts as Goldfinger's personal chauffeur, bodyguard, and golf caddy.

Notes

  • Oddjob was created by Ian Fleming where he made his first appearance in Goldfinger (1959).

In other media

Television

  • In James Bond Jr., Oddjob appeared in the setting of the 1990s animated television series where he was voiced by actor Jeff Bennett. Oddjob also clashed several more times with Bond's nephew, James Bond Junior, usually while in the employ of a more powerful criminal.
