Mrs. Grober, the French Teacher.

Patricia Grober, otherwise known as simply Mrs. Grober, was the French teacher at Edsel High School. In the summer of 1991 she took her class on a field trip to France, including slacker Michael Corben who had missed almost every single one of her classes and who she only allowed to come along at the behest of his mother, so that he could make up the credit and graduate. However through a series of confusing circumstances, Michael became separated from his teacher and mistaken for a spy once they arrived in Paris. Mrs. Grober then attempted to divide her time between tracking Michael down and continuing the field trip as normal.

Her noisy search for her student attracted the attention of both Ilsa Grunt and Haywood of British Intelligence. Ilsa assumed she was a CIA agent abetting Corben; Haywood meanwhile suspected her of working for whoever was killing European finance ministers, and thus a threat to "their" agent. Some digging by Derek Richardson convinced Intelligence that she was in fact an assassin codenamed "the French Teacher," and that her students were mercenaries. Thus began several attempts by both sides to capture and/or eliminate Mrs. Grober and her class. They were ultimately captured by Augustus Steranko's henchman Zigesfeld, and taken to the Chatteau Richelieu.

There, Mrs. Grober and her class were held captive in a cage suspended over a vat of molten gold in Steranko's secret gold foundry. However, they were eventually rescued by Michael Corben and his new friend Mariska, and Mrs. Grober, taking a machine gun off of one of Steranko's henchmen, assisted him in defeating the villain. After they escaped, she gave Michael the French credit.
