Renee Palmer is a female television character that features in Earth: Final Conflict.

Biography

Early life

Renee was the elder of two siblings with her being quite protective of her younger brother, Richard Palmer. (Episode: Essence) It was known that at some point during the year, Renee would always go to the family cabin with her father and witness the very first snowfall. This was the case until her father died after which she never returned to the cabin. (Episode: The Fields) She once studied at Harvard where she did basketball as well as maintained contact with the professors there. (Episode: Abduction) Her room mate at the time was Claire Yates who later disappeared shortly after graduation without telling Renee anything thus leading to a falling out between the two. Renee was known to had emailed Claire for six months but did not receive any answer from Claire which made Palmer in dealing with Yates directly. (Episode: First Breath) At some unknown point, she joined Doors International and became a corporate executive that worked under Jonathan Doors. She was involved in the study and excavation of Ma'el's starship in Peru. (Episode: The Once and Future World) Renee had tended a dozen charities and other events where she met with President Daniel Thompsons Chief of Staff Hubble Urick though neither had spoke more then "ten words to each other". President Thompson was known as the United States President who made first contact with the Taelons when they arrived on Earth. (Episode: Through Your Eyes)

She was known to had met Joshua Doors in the past and had a positive relationship four years ago at first. However, following that moment, the relationship between the two soured. (Episode: One Taelon Avenue) Years ago, she met Phillip King and attempted to recruit him into Doors International's Agro Division. (Episode: Abduction) At some point, she was involved in a romantic relationship with Kan Matthews though it broke off as they could not work together. She later confessed that she was in love with Matthews though she did not know that he simply wanted to use her. (Episode: Dream Stalker)

Liberation

According to Renee Palmer herself, she had been involved with the resistance since day one. (Episode: Emancipation) At some unknown point, Palmer infiltrated Taelon security through the aid of a a secret resistance cell that consisted of Jansen. During the planet wide crackdown by the Taelons over resistance forces, Renee Palmer quickly positioned herself in a disguise as a member of the Volunteer forces that were deployed around the world. When she learnt that Jonathan Doors became a target for an arrest by the Companions, she quickly moved to take him to safety. (Episode: The Vanished) She inserted herself in a squad that was sent to track down Jonathan Doors and later encountered but Auger and Liam Kincaid. Auger was easily incapacitated but Kincaid put up a fight and later ended up nearly knocking out Palmer until a Volunteer trained a weapon on the Major. Whilst the Volunteer was busy arresting Kincaid and realizing his identity as a Protector, Renee took her weapon and disintegrated the Volunteer. She later showed that she was an ally to the two Liberation agents and made it appear as if she was escorted them for detainment. After helping them out of the building, she disappeared leaving Kincaid and Auger clueless on who this mysterious woman was who had saved them. When Jonathan Doors announced a new partnership with the Taelons, he revealed his new division head was Renee Palmer. (Episode: Crackdown)

Renee later met with Da'an in order to determine the truth about the disappearances of several suspected Liberation members that were never returned to their homes. Initially, she claimed she hated the resistance and that she wanted test subjects though Da'an denied any Taelon involvement in the matter. She later infiltrated Ronald Sandoval's apartment in order to steal the relevant data. Palmer was later met by Liam Kincaid and she shared her knowledge of the missing resistance members. She worked with Kincaid to recover Jansen and other captured Liberation members whereupon they were freed as well as allowed to return to their families. (Episode: The Vanished) Following this event, she opened the market to Mneme; a Co-Venture project that was developed with the aid of the Taelons which involved the manipulation of human memories in order to allow users to re-experience their fondest and loved moments. She was later shocked to learn from Major Kincaid that a black market Mneme operation was in effect and had been responsible for the death of a number of civilians. Palmer discovered a black market group which was selling peoples memories for a profit. She uncovered that one of her own employees, Mr Soriyama, was in afct involved in this illegal act. Palmer later worked with Kincaid to destroy the technology but found that her employee had already been killed. (Episode: Deja Vu)

During the theft of the Skrill queen, Palmer intended to make use of the weapon implant technology for the resistance but faced some opposition from Major Kincaid. As the course of events proceeded, she decided to investigate which liberation cell was responsible for the act and uncovered the fact that it Black Wednesday that was responsible. The cell was an extremist group that had formed on the day the Taelons had arrived on the planet. (Episode: Emancipation)

Overview

Personality and attributes

In terms of personality, Renee was known to be the polar opposite of her brother Richard. Where he could not keep his emotions under wraps, Palmer carefully guarded her emotions and typically did not display much to outsiders. (Episode: Essence) Whilst shown to be fearless most of the time, she did face a moment of terror when she was Lieutenant Malley captive and when he angrily shouted at her. (Episode: Phantom Companion)

She stated once that she never trusted the Taelons, even from the moment they arrived. (Episode: Dark Matter) Palmer had no compunction about killing individuals in order to complete her goals as demonstrated when she killed a Volunteer to save Liam from being arrested. (Episode: Crackdown) She was not intimidated by powerful individuals such as Agent Sandoval and even claimed to Major Kincaid once that she could be dangerous herself. She also stated that she was quite capable in protecting herself in times of danger. (Episode: The Vanished) Palmer expressed surprise that anyone would "bootleg" her as she believed that she had run a very tight and strict security operation. (Episode: Deja Vu)

On the matter of children, Renee was not entirely sure if she wanted them. This was not because she was scared of the prospect but because she was not sure if she wanted to bring offspring into a world that was controlled by the Taelons. (Episode: The Vanished) As such, she was deeply opposed to the Taelons and believed in gaining any advantage for humanity over the aliens. (Episode: The Once and Future World)

In regards to her love life, Palmer jokingly once claimed that she did not know what a good guy was like and that men often were intimidated by her as she was a strong woman. (Episode: Pad'Ar) She even once said as a joke that she had no personal life. (Episode: The Fields) Despite this being the case, she was quite attracted to former Colonel Dennis Alan Robillard though she often denied that any relationship was present and even angrily retorted to those who suggested that anything was between them. Ultimately, she felt deeply betrayed when he framed her but whilst this was the case, she did try desperately to save him and was saddened when he was killed. (Episode: Scorched Earth)

When one of her scientists was killed in the attempt to activate Ma'el's ship, Renee was deeply saddened and felt sorry for her actions. She felt that in her desperate search for a weapon against the Taelons, she had cost the life of a human being. (Episode: Time Bombs)

She was fiercely independent and felt that she could often look after herself. Furthermore, she grew very angry when people told her what or what not to do. (Episode: Abduction)

Powers and abilities

Palmer made active use of disguises in order to insert herself into positions that would provide her greater entry into a region. This was seen when she managed to masquerade as a Volunteer with her act only being noticed after she accomplshed her objective. Furthermore, she had an elaborate setup that prevented a positive identification from being placed on her by computer sources. (Episode: Crackdown) She was known to had made use of disguises in order to get entry into secured locations as well as create elaborate lies in order to get pass any security. (Episode: The Vanished)

On a physical level, she was once taught the skills related to the sport Pad'Ar and learnt to focus herself in melee based combat. (Episode: Pad'Ar) Something she was not aware of until her infiltration of the New Life clinic was that she was infertile. (Episode: Lost Generation)

Renee possessed a great deal of resources and channels through her position as division head of Doors International. However, on certain occasions where sensitive information was involved, she tended not to use her normal channels. (Episode: The Vanished) Following Jonathan Doors death, she was effectively running the company though the Board of Directors was still involved in major decisions. (Episode: Dream Stalker)

She developed a close friendship with Arcadia Frost but after learning the truth about her, she became angered and felt that she had been betrayed. After the initial fight, she felt bad and wanted to meet her again. (Episode: Pad'Ar)
