The U.S.S. Republic was a Constitution-class Federation starship, NCC-1371, on which James T. Kirk and Ben Finney once served. An error made by Finney (regarding a circuit to the atomic matter piles left open) was logged by Kirk, leading to Finney being sent to the bottom of the promotion list.
