History

Sidrian hunters in Uncanny X-Men v1 #154.

The Sidri were a race of extraterrestrial insectoids that inhabited the universe. A swarm of Sidrian hunters pursued Corsair after a bounty was placed on his life. At the time, he fled to Earth and enlisted the aid of the X-Men who battled the insectoid creatures. Initially, they were overwhelmed by the hunters that managed to destroy the X-Mansion and pursued their quarry. This was until the X-Men targeted the creatures ship matrix link thus stunning them in a petroleum field. Corsair then intended to detonate the area to kill the Sidri but Cyclops refused to kill living and sentient life. However, Corsair went on his own and fired a blast that detonated the plant thus killing the Sidri swarm. (Uncanny X-Men v1 #154)

A large group of Sidrian hunters surrounded the Peak above Earth when S.W.O.R.D. had found an unconscious Deathbird. They would enter the station and battle Storm's X-Men as they sought Deathbird who was pregnant at the time. (X-Men v4 #18) Ego the Living Planet came infested by a large swarm of Sidri where he called upon aid with Sam Alexander arriving on the scene. (Nova v7 #1)

Underneath the X-Mansion, a nest of Sidri eggs remained hidden until the X-Men departed the Xavier School for the Mutant nation of Krakoa. Upon hatching, they sought to make the estate their new home and looked to aggressively defend it. Lady Mastermind at the time was intending to travel though the gateway at the X-Mansion to go to Krakoa but inadvertently disturbed the Sidri nest. The insectoid aliens then cocooned her where her powers subconsciously affected the Sidri hive mind into looking for help by projecting illusions of X-Men. This attracted the attention of Nightcrawler and his team who uncovered the truth of the mysterious encounters where he negotiated with the Sidri. Ultimately, he allowed them to claim the estate whilst allowing all Mutants to pass through the gateway nearby thus leading to the two sides parting on good terms. Overview

In appearance, the Sidri were large insectile creatures with a hard carapace that moved around on four insectile legs and a single visor that served as their eye. Their eye was able to generate powerful energy blasts that they could fire at their target. The species were a colony-based organism consisting of living and sentient insectoids. (Uncanny X-Men v1 #154) Whilst strong, their empathic ability was quite weak and made them vulnerable to psychic attacks. (X-Men v4 #19) In addition, their primary weakness was said to be towards intense heat with powerful fusion bombs able to rupture the entire matrix. (Uncanny X-Men v1 #154)

Their race were able to adapt towards enemies such as generating additional armor to make them more resistant to lightning-based attacks. Furthermore, the species were able to merge and create new forms as needed depending on their needs and situation. This included even forming a ship matrix where they conglomerated into a large vessel able to travel through space. As such, it was said that the Sidri had no need of actual spacecraft and could form one when needed and this link between themselves was almost impossible to break. It was possible though to create a violent dissolution that acted as a kind of short-circuit which would stun the Sidri for a short time but such an act required a phenomenal amount of energy. (Uncanny X-Men v1 #154)

Sidrian hunters were noted to serve as bounty hunters with it said that Imperial Shi'ar were unlikely to hire them. (Uncanny X-Men v1 #154) This hunting species were only concerned with the recovery of their quarry. (X-Men v4 #18)
