History
The Sorcerer's of Zero were an organization of Witches that formed in the kingdom of Wesnia. They formed in the aftermath of the Witch Hunts when mankind began to persecute and kill witches. Around this time, a figure who they came to know as Him appeared before a group of surviving Witches and gave them the Grimoire of Zero. This led to the spread of magic along with the formation of the Sorcerer's of Zero as they believed themselves the loyal servants of the creator of the book. After acquiring it, they named themselves after its author and sought to bring about the equal status of witches with that of mankind leading them to targeting the kingdom in acts to draw notice to their cause. They also began to take in witches though banished those that used their magic for evil causes. In response, the nation's king decided to gather a band of sorcerers to oppose the magic users and created the sponsored Sorcerer's of the State who hunted and killed witches. By the year 526 of the Liturgical calendar, they were operating secretly in the shadows. They came to approach the king of the nation where they intended to force the negotiations with the Witches. In response, the rulers of the nation called upon the aid of Thirteen who was employed as a state sorcerer. He was dispatched to eliminate the threat posed by the Sorcerer's of Zero and many of their number were killed. Thirteen came upon the town of Latette which was home to the Sorcerer's of Zero where he massacred the population.
Overview
Members of this cult were magic users who were all witches that utilised magic from the Grimoire of Zero. They believed in the equal status of witches among humanity and fought against the nation to achieve this goal. However, they believed this could only be accomplished by them gaining a triumph over the kingdom. As such, they engaged in acts of chaos and crime in an effort to bring notice to their cause leading to them being branded as criminals by the state. This resulted in them being hunted by Sorcerers of the State though the Sorcerer's of Zero believed that it was a just cause despite the damage or harm they inflicted. Though opposed to the state, they were equally opposed to witches that use their magic for evil with such individuals being banished from their ranks.
For magic, they were known to hunt beastfallen in order to sacrifice their bodies to fuel magical spells.
All members of the cult were required to make a blood contract with Him. Thus, any breaking of the contract led to the witch member being killed. They conducted trials for those witches they considered traitors to their kind. All wore neckbraces that was decorated with a red jewel. Though seemingly simple clothing, the jewel was magical and allowed 'Him' to secretly view through the gem where he kept track of their activities.
A treasured relic of the group was the Grimoire of Zero.
