The Star of Sorrow is a power source and weapon that features in Trinity Blood.

History

The Star was created at some unknown point on Earth before Armageddon was made and deployed in the city of Istvan. It was created in an attempt to restore power to the city and make it the jewel of the world. Thus, the count and his wife laboured on the machinery for years in order to make it work. However, the Vatican grew suspicious of this and used covert means to seemingly kill the Count's wife.

In grief, the Methuselah Count secretly began working on the machine in order to turn it into a weapon with which he could get his revenge on all Terrans. However, once the Count attacked the Vatican fleet, a subroutine was activated which had been installed by the Rosenkruenz Orden and commanded the satellite to target both Empire and Vatican territory in order to create a new world war.

Overview

This item was an example of Lost Technology, advanced pieces of machinery created before devastation fell upon the Earth. It consisted of three parts; a solar collector on the moon which beamed energy in microwave form to a orbiting satellite around the planet after which it was transmitted into a power plant. The technology was also capable of being turned into a weapon by dialling up the power of the microwave beams thus forming powerful beams of light that were easily able to destroy an entire fleet of airships with apparent ease.
