Biography

Viktor Barisov was born in Russia in the 20th century where he pursued a career as a scientist. He eventually held a Doctorate in Quantum Physics from Russia's top science academy and also held a Master's in Biochemistry at some point. In 1950, Barisov proved to be the Soviet Union's top scientist and was sometimes identified as Russia's "Einstein". He was eventually appointed by Joseph Stalin to conduct sensitive research at the Katorga-12 station after the discovery of a new ore with unique properties that was designated Element 99. After being stationed at the site, Barisov worked closely with a fellow scientist by the name of Nikolai Demichev as the two sought to apply the principles of E99 to all aspects of science and industry. Their experiments determined that the substance had the ability to manipulate time itself and the Soviet Union sought to harness the substance as a weapon as well as a power source. In 1955, Barisov suffered from increased pressure from Stalin's successor Nikita Khrushchev to preoduce results that led to an explosion that seemingly killed Demichev. This also had the effect of creating a disaster on the island that killed much of the population and led to its closure. The sheer nature of the project and catastrophe meant that all records of the research station at Katorga-12 was erased.
