Biography

David Cannon

He later struck at a Midtown Bank which happened when the Avengers had reformed with the team attempting to apprehend Cannon. Despite outnumbered, the heroes failed to organise and their sheer numbers meant that they got in each others way which allowed Whirlwind to escape the Avengers. The incident led to the Avengers having decide to trim their numbers into more manageable levels. (Avengers v3 #4)

He was later secretly hired by Mrs Sharpe where she wanted him to attack her son Striker and his compatriots among the Avengers Academy as part of a celebrity stunt. Whirlwind then attacked them where he stated that he was outraged at Hank Pym taking the code-name Wasp and blamed him for Janet van Dyne's death. This saw him taking Reptil hostage and he attempted to slit the young hero's truth but he grew armoured scales to protect him. This allowed Striker to send an electrical attack against Whirlwind leading to his defeat and his eventual arrest. (Avengers Academy v1 #5)
