Biography

The Great Ladies of the Black Swan in New Avengers v3 #31.

Yabbat Ummon Turru was a female superhuman being who was native to Earth-1365 in the Multiverse. She was born in the Hidden City where she was the third sister of Crown Prince Dadingra who was heir to the throne and keeper of the Great Key. The Key was their world's greatest treasure as it allowed access to the Library of Worlds that was a gift of the Sinnu Sarrum. Yabbat and her brother often opened the door to the Library but it could never be accessed by the untrained so thus they observed through it on a regular basis. The pair had long heard legends of the Great Ladies who had journeyed through it and opened the door in the hope of seeing them. One day, their world was invaded by the Black Priests who came during the crisis involving the Incursions that was destroying different versions of Earth across the Multiverse. These robed priests had come to destroy Yabbat's world in order to stem the tide of destruction. Thus, none of her people were spared with her being the only survivor where she took the key from her deceased brother and opened the door into the Library of Worlds. She was then met by the Great Ladies who revealed that her world was an offering to Rabum Alal who was the Great Destroyer. Yabbat was taken in by the Great Ladies in order to be raised as a Black Swan alongside her kin. (New Avengers v3 #5) For many years, Yabbat served the Rabum Alal alongside the other Great Ladies until she along with five other Black Swans sought to learn the truth about his identity and gaze at his face. They succeeded which led to her and the other branded as apostates with Yabbat turning away from her devotion to the Great Destroyer as she set out upon her own quest. (New Avengers v3 #33) This saw her journeying various worlds in the Multiverse in order to find a refuge for her to regrow her lost family from the D.N.A. along with brain scans she had on her. (New Avengers v3 #26)

With a Manifold, she arrived on Earth-616 during an Incursion event where an armed squad protected them as they prepared to trigger their device to destroy the planet. They had arrived in the vicinity of Wakanda where their actions drew the attention of the Black Panther T'Challa who accompanied a trio of Wakandan students in the field. The students tried to make peaceful contact with the new arrivals but Black Swan's compatriots killed them leading to a fight with the Black Panther. It was then that Black Swan took control of the device from the Manifold and used it to destroy the other Earth instead. She was hen knocked out by Black Panther who took her captive whereupon he called a gathering of the Illuminati in order to combat this new threat to the world. (New Avengers v3 #1)

In an effort to regain her throne, Hela forged a deal with the Mad Titan Thanos who dispatched Black Swan and Proxima Midnight to aid her in recovering a mystical hammer of Thor that survived the collapse of Battleworld. This saw the three arrive on the Collectors vessel as he had sought a means of claiming the relic for himself. (Unworthy Thor v1 #3) They faced opposition to their efforts due to the actions of Thor and ultimately failed in their mission. (Unworthy Thor v1 #4) In the aftermath, they returned to the Black Quadrant to report their failure to Thanos who had no tribute given to him. It was then that Hela murdered both the Black Swan and Proxima Midnight to showcase that she was an equal to the Mad Titan and did not need to offer tribute with him accepting her response as the pair kissed. (Unworthy Thor v1 #5)
