Biography
Origin
Zachary Zatara
It was said that his powers first came to manifest during the time when the Spectre had gone on a rampage. (Teen Titans v3 #39)
Zachary Zatara performed as a professional stage magician at a theater in Tokyo, Japan, where he executed a series of sleight-of-hand tricks and grand illusions for a live audience. During his performance, he utilised vocal incantations spoken backwards to manifest genuine magical effects, including the levitation of objects and the conjuration of items from thin air. He engaged in a verbal exchange with his cousin, Zatanna, who visited him backstage following his set. During this meeting, he demonstrated a level of professional vanity by discussing his burgeoning fame and his desire to surpass the reputation of his predecessors. He was subsequently approached by members of the Teen Titans who were seeking assistance with a supernatural crisis, and he initially reacted with a dismissive and arrogant attitude toward their request. Despite his reluctance to join a team, he participated in a brief skirmish against a group of supernatural entities that disrupted the local area, using his magic to bind and neutralise the attackers. He eventually agreed to accompany the team back to their headquarters to provide further magical consultation, though he continued to prioritise his own professional image and comfort throughout the transition. (Teen Titans v3 #34)
Looking to be a hero, he was shown that at some point to had joined the Teen Titans. (Teen Titans v3 #37) Zatara was said to had been responsible for helping Kid Devil join the team. During one mission, the pair came to be stranded at New Azarath where Zachary helped Eddie a lot who came to owe Zatara as a result. He later came to quit the team and told them to never bother him again. Afterwards, a reborn Raven came seeking Zachary out for advice on the reason for her resurrection. (Teen Titans v3 #39)
