Earth-238 was an alternate Earth considered horribly backwards by the standards of the Dimensional Development Court. Over a decade ago, Earth-238 was the home of many superheroes, such as Miracleman, Rick, Gaath, and Captain UK. However, all that changed thanks to English politician Sir James Jaspers, who railed against the "threat" posed by superheroes. His rhetoric, combined with his growing reality-warping powers, led England to outlaw superheroes and place the Status Crew in control of the nation. To deal with those heroes who escaped imprisonment and death camps, Jaspers created the Fury, an unstoppable killing machine that coldly hunted down and slew every hero on Earth-238 in the space of a few years.

However, Jaspers grew bored with his work, and took on the life of an outlaw with his creations, the Crazy Gang. Meanwhile, the Fury was stored away and the Status Crew made life more and more unbearable in England.

When Saturnyne and her Avant Guard, along with (separately) Captain Britain and Jackdaw came to Earth-238, both resolved to make the dystopian Earth a better place- the Captain by fighting evil, and Saturnyne by using an evolutionary fluid to boost the entire planet to a higher level of refinement and civilization. Both their efforts were ruined when Jaspers reached out with his mind, and Earth-238's physical laws dissolved into madness. The Fury was unleashed once more, causing Saturnyne to retreat before Dimples, Jackdaw and Captain Britain were slain by it.

Abandoned by its last saviors, the breakdown of reality spread from Earth-238's England to the entire planet, and threatened to spread to the galaxy beyond, as well as the multiverse. Seeking to stop it (as well as help ruin Saturnyne's chances of being acquitted of the crime of her failure), Mandragon of the Dimensional Development Court had the entire universe of 238 erased. Only the Fury survived.

Comments

Earth-238's superheroes were largely based on classic British comic-book heroes, as seen in flashback.
