Janus VI was a barren world where a United Federation of Planets mining colony was built. It was initially believed to lack any sort of life, but the Horta race was discovered after the mining endangered the eggs of its sole remaining member. The conflict was resolved by the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise, and the Horta have since become full partners with the miners.
