Contents

History

These Martian Ghosts were once a race of aliens that lived on the planet Mars who long ago vanished from the planet but not before sealing a spore that contained their essence within an ancient cavern that they left buried for the ages. When a Human expedition arrived on the red world, they accidently opened the seal of the cavern and the Martian Ghosts began possessing the Human inhabitants who began to kill the non-infected members of their kind.

Overview

The Martian Ghosts were incapable of being killed as they had no true body but rather infected the body of a host through which they acted. The host would slowly begin to change on a psychological level becoming more feral and animalistic. Any host that was killed in combat would have its 'ghost' leave the body and move to infect a new host. The infected hosts appeared incapable of masking themselves as Humans and spoke a completely different language; quite possibly the Martian language.

Notes

  • The species were not named in the movie.
  • The Martians in Ghosts of Mars are akin to the Ravers of the Thomas Covenant series in many respects, being discarnate entities that possess living hosts and survive the destruction of those hosts. Virtually indestructible, the ghosts even survived a small nuclear explosion.

Appearances

  • Ghost of Mars:
