Sinbad (Japanese: シンドバッド, Hepburn: Shindobaddo) was the male son of Badr and Esra where he lived in Tison village that was located in the Parthevia Empire. The fluctuation of his Rukh was so strong that his birth could be felt by Yunan, Scheherazade, Matal Mogamett, and Arba with the event being referred to as a miracle. He was 3 years old when he came to sneak onto his father's boat when they came to be caught in a storm. Badr came to fear that he and his son would die but Sinbad came to miraculously guide them out of the storm despite being a young boy. It was then that his father remembered the circumstances of Sinbad's birth where he had guided them to safety from a volcano eruption leading to him to believe that his son would someday change the world. He was 5 years old when he wanted to be a sailor like his father where during this time he saw some villagers attack Badr for his lack of support of the Parthevia Empire in its wars. Sinbad came to be more angry at how his father did nothing to defend himself. Afterwards, he came to rescue an injured man named Darius (ダライアス, Daraiasu) who claimed to had been a travelling merchant where he let the man into his home. He came to be amazed the stranger's journey as Darius regaled the boy about his travels where over the next few days he spoke about the outside world to the child. It was later discovered though that Darius was actually a spy from the Reim Empire and had been using Sinbad to protect himself from discovery. Upon finding out, Badr came to beg for Darius to let his son go and even came to convince the man to surrender but in desperation the Reim spy tried to injure Sinbad. This saw Badr being forced to kill Darius in order to save his son. After this incident, Badr came to be forcibly conscripted by the nation's military and being deployed to fight in war. Several months later, Sinbad and his mother Esra came to be informed that Badr had died in the conflict. In the years afterwards, Sinbad came to care for his mother Esra who grew ill and bed-ridden over time. Nine years later, the Parthevian Empire began campaigns looking to claim the mysterious Dungeons (迷宮ダンジョン Danjon, literally meaning "Labyrinth") that began to appear around the world. However, the legion of soldiers sent into them were all killed and all efforts to claim the structures and the power within had failed. By this point, Sinbad worked to protect women from thieves on the roads where whilst protecting one caravan he came to find a mysterious traveller named Yunan within a barrel. Taking the man to Tison village, Sinbad welcomed Yunan to his home where the villagers all helped treat the stranger well. Around this time, the village was visited by Captain Dragul who was a royal of the Parthevian Empire. He had come in order to recruit soldiers for the nation's armies and looked to draft Sinbad for a campaign to claim the Dungeon.

Darius Leoxses refused to relent at which point Sinbad did his Djinn Equip and destroyed a neighbouring mountain to showcase how one-sided the fight between them was but he declared that he had no intention of conquering Sasan. He simply wanted to forge an alliance with them as part of his quest to end war and encourage cooperation between nations. Upon seeing Sinbad's sincerity, Darius decided to accept him on his word with their fight ending. Sinbad returned them to Sasan palace were he lied by saying that their fight ended in a draw to help the Knight-King keep face. The Sindria Trading Company and Sasan then parted as new allies following this encounter with Mystras even joining Sinbad's crew.

After his father's death, Sinbad came to show nothing but contempt for Parthevia's rulers on how its royals treated the people cruelly. It was for this reason that he refused to serve them. This was until one day when Yunan suggested that he changed it leading to Sinbad going on the path to become a king. As a young man, he had a single unyielding dream which was to create a nation that could bring everyone together and usher in an era of peace. As a Dungeon Capturer, he was one of the few people that could brave a Dungeon and gain the allegiance of its Djinn. This led to him being designated as the King's Vessel by the Djinn that came to serve him. He could further augment his power by activating his Djinn Equip (魔装, Masō, "magic dress") where he became possessed by the power of the Djinn allowing him to use their power fully. He noted that at his full strength that he could easily destroy an entire country if he had no opposition from another Dungeon Capturer. His skill allowed him to switch his Djinn Equip among his various Djinns and thus alter his powersets depending on the kind of powers he needed against a particular opponent. Sinbad could also enhance his power further with Extreme Magic (極大魔法, Kyokudai Mahō) that utilised his Djinn Equip to its maximum potential.

**Stagnation : said to be the true power of Valefor whereby Sinbad was able to stop the molecules and restrict the movement of a substance. It was this power that allowed him to generate ice by stopping the movement of water molecules in the air and then manipulating their state from liquid to gas to solid. Using the spell on a person allowed Sinbad to separate a foe's senses from their surroundings and effectively slow them down. The person failed to realise the change as their thought processes slowed down thus allowing Sinbad to outmanoeuvre them with ease. To the target, Sinbad thus seemingly could move at incredible speeds though in reality it was because the person had slowed down greatly in their reactions.

Adventures of Sinbad

Sinbad in Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic v1 #4.

At some point, he was known to had sought out the wandering tribe of the Yambala Gladiators (ヤンバラ五剣士, Yanbara Gosenshi) where he spent a year with them and learnt the art of Magoi manipulation.

Afterwards, he came to bump into Aladdin and Morgiana whilst they were journeying on the road to Balbadd. Sinbad came to ask them for some clothes catching them off-guard where they initially mistook the naked man for a monster. After an explanation, Aladdin came to lend Sinbad his clothes though they were too small for him to dress properly. Introducing himself as 'Sin', he told the pair that he was a merchant who was heading to Balbadd. Accompanying them, he promised to offer them free room and board at the hotel he was staying at in the city.

He came to learn that Aladdin had intended to travel to Magnostadt after hearing about the mage kingdom with Sinbad opposed to this decision after learning that the nation had ties with Al-Thamen. Despite this, he was present at the dock to say farewell to Aladdin and his friends as they each went on their own respective journeys.

Overview

Personality and attributes

In appearance, Sinbad was a tall, attractive man with tan skin and a muscular build who had golden eyes along with a very long, purple hair that he tied in a ponytail. As he was growing up, he spent much time at the sea in his boat where he asked people to call him Sinbad the Sailor (シンドバッド・ザ・セーラー, Shindobaddo za sērā). Due to travelling across the seas, he came to be also known as Sinbad, the High King of the Seven Seas (七つの海の上級王シンバッド, Nanatsunoumi no jōkyū-ō shinbaddo).

Since childhood, his mother had described him as being an energetic, sensitive boy who cherished his friends and family. In one instance, he selflessly used the money from conquering Baal to purchase boats for the citizens of Contastia Harbor. He was also shown to be curious when he was a child as he had only ever seen his home village. Thus, he became intensely curious about Darius whose blonde hair was strange to him with Sinbad wanting to learn more about the outside world.

He could be quite a flirt and was not above using his charm to get what he wanted. When drunk, Sinbad's flirtations with women were somewhat indiscriminate to the point that it had caused incidents in the past. He claimed that he never forgot the name of an attractive woman.

He was determined in creating such a kingdom and his dream was strong enough to inspire others to follow him.

He was shown to be an enthralling storyteller and made some of his fortune by recounting his stories to the masses. Using his Metal Vessels, he was able to showcase them with magical effects in order to further draw an audience.

He came to be regarded as a great and honorable king who was respected by everyone he met especially his subjects.

By adulthood, he came to lose much of the innocence he had when he was a child. He was noted to had become more cunning and duplicitous even to his close friends such as Ja'far. On the surface, he could appear to be selfless and devoted where he performed altruistic deeds for other people without asking for anything in return. Though in reality, some of these were done so in order to gain potential allies against his enemies.

Due to being able to foresee the flow of destiny, Sinbad came to be an arrogant figure who believing himself to be exceptional when compared to other people. He claimed to had believe in his allies amongst his Eight Generals but as stated by Hakuryuu Ren, Sinbad considered them to be smaller and weaker than himself.

Sinbad was the son of a fisherman named Badr (バドル, Badoru) and his wife Esra (エスラ, Esura) who lived as a housewife. As a child, Sinbad greatly loved his father though he came to disagree with the way he acted sometimes in life. This was evident when he saw his father get insulted and beaten by villagers for not supporting the Parthevian Empire. Sinbad believed that his father should have fought against them and believed that such a thing was the sign of a person being a real man. Despite this, he came to be saddened after his father had been killed in service to Parthevia. After then, Sinbad only had his mother where he began to support her as she became bed-ridden.

He came to greatly respect King Rashid Saluja as the man served as a mentor to him and taught him the art of becoming a merchant.

Initially, it was believed that Sinbad was a reincarnation of David Jehoahaz Abraham though he himself stated that this was not true.

Powers and abilities

It was remarked that upon his birth that he was regarded as a miracle whose potential was only ever seen once a millennium. From birth, he had the ability to use the Rukh and rely on it in times of need with this often being seen in his youth. With this power, he was able to read the flow of the waves which allowed him to escape deadly storms that normally capsized the ships of most sailors. Through this ability, he was able to guide himself and others to safety which became the source of his legendary reputation as a sailor.

As a Dungeon Capturer (迷宮攻略者, Danjon Kōryakusha), he was one of the few people that could brave a Dungeon and gain the allegiance of its Djinn. This led to him being designated as the King's Vessel (王の器, Ō no Utsuwa) by the Djinn that came to serve him.

In time, he came to possess seven different Djinn each of which had their own Metal Vessel. These Djinn included:

  • Baal (Kanji: バアル, Rōmaji: Baaru) : a male Djinn of wrath and heroes who controlled lightning. The Djinn Equip allowed him to take on a more dragonic form whereby he gained two horns, a jewel on his forehead, an elaborate necklace and a blue-scale like armour that covered most of his body that now included a long tail. This form also allowed him access to the sword of Baal namely Bararaq Saiqa which had a guard around the hilt similar to that of the claw of Baal with blue scales. Baal allowed him to conduct the following techniques:
    • Bararaq (Lightning) : allowed Sinbad to summons lightning from his sword to strike the opponent from any point and even strike multiple opponents. He could use the technique in its basic form or when he underwent a full Djinn Equip. At its height, the strength of the attack was able to destroy an entire chain of mountains in a single strike.
    • Bararaq Saiqa (Lightning Sword) : allowed Sinbad to draw lightning from the sky to his sword where it is stored and eventually used to blast the enemy with powerful strikes with it able to light up the sky in the process.
    • Bararaq Inqerad-Saiqa (Lightning Sword of Extinction) : drawing on his Extreme Magic, he could summon an enormous blade formed from concentrated lightning and released it from above with it impaling anything below him.
  • Focalor (Kanji: フォカロル, Rōmaji: Fokaroru) : a male Djinn of rule and submission who could control the wind.
    • Foraz Zora (Cleaving Wind) : using his hands, Sinbad was able to summon tornados from his palms and combined them over his head thus forming an enormous tornado able to destroy a mountain. The ability also allowed him to manipulate wind on a smaller scale and could use it to destroy the Extreme Magic of another Dungeon Capturer.
  • Zepar (Kanji: ゼパル, Rōmaji: Zeparu) : a diminutive Djinn with wings and a belly whose domain was of Spirit and Puppetry who controlled sound. This Djinn dwelt in the ring on Sinbad's middle finger. The Djinn Equip turned Sinbad into a small imp-like creature with dragon wings, hooves, two pairs of horns, a furry tail and a third eye with his voice becoming more child-like. He could use this for to make a powerful loud scream with his sound magic that had the power to command others into doing something such as rendering them unconscious.
  • Valefor (Kanji: ブァレフォール, Rōmaji: Barefōru) : a male wolf-like Djinn of falsehood and prestige who controlled ice. The Djinn Equip allowed him to take the form of a nine-tailed fox whereby he seemingly had eyes on the palm of his hands and could control ice magic.
    • Garufor Zairu (Ice Beast Howl) : this spell allowed Sinbad to shoot out multiple ice picks towards his opponent with it being a powerful technique.
    • Garufor Kirestal (Ice Beast Crystal Formation) : through touch, he was able to freeze a target in a giant stalactite of ice that knocked a person out.
    • Stagnation : said to be the true power of Valefor whereby Sinbad was able to stop the molecules and restrict the movement of a substance.
  • Furfur (Kanji: フルフル, Rōmaji: Furufuru) : a male antler-headed Djinn Sinbad's of Ecstasy and Rending Darkness.
  • Vepar (Kanji: ヴェパール, Rōmaji: Vepāru) : a female Djinn with insect features. This Djinn dwelt in the ring on Sinbad's index finger.
    • Vepar Istella (Kanji: 千剣時雨ヴエパール・イステラーハ, Rōmaji Vepāru Isuterāha, "Thousand Sword Shower") : an attack that summoned hundreds of sharp blades and sent them raining down on enemies with them able to slice through flesh.
  • Crocell (Kanji: クローセル, Rōmaji: Kurōseru) :

To use Djinn, he came to embed them into a relic that were known as Metal Vessels (金属器, Kinzoku Ki). In Sinbad's case, his Metal Vessels consisted of his sword, two bracelets, two rings and two necklaces with one made of gold and the other of silver. Sinbad was shown to be capable of doing a full Djinn equip with all seven of his Djinn. The vessels were known to react to the presence of another Dungeon Capturer.

As a young man, he was given his father's sword which he used as he went out into the world.

When he was young, he came to establish a mercantile business that was the Sindria Trading Company. By the time he was 18 years old, he came to establish the Sindria Kingdom (シンドリア王国, Shindoria Ōkoku) after establishing an agreement with Parthevia. Among his closest companions were eight of the kingdoms strongest warriors who were known as the Eight Generals. (八人将, Hachinin Shō).
