Origin
The Monster Society of Evil were a group of supervillains gathered together by Mister Mind.
Among the recruits into his organization included Doctor Sivana, Ibac, Nippo and Mr. Banjo. Bringing together his Monster Society, he enlisted the aid of Captain Nazi and tasked the villain with stealing the magic pearl from the Indian Princess Dareena Rajabuti. (Captain Marvel Adventures v1 #22)
Captain Marvel could not stop the lava flow, but thankfully when it flowed over the TNT it melted instead of igniting, and Marvel remembered that high explosives were set off by fulminate and not fire. Mr. Mind gloated in his miniature spaceship until he saw Captain Marvel flying at him and realized he’d been foiled. Mind flew into a flock of birds, managing to evade his nemesis. Billy Batson broadcast a warning that Mr. Mind was still on the loose, and director Hitchblock of Eastern Elephantine Studios sent Captain Marvel a letter, saying he was doing a film version of Mr. Minds wrongdoings and needed his technical advice. Captain Marvel was happy to help, believing it was important the world was warned about how dangerous Mind was, and he was impressed with the mechanical worm Hitchblock whipped up as a stand-in for Mind. Mr. Mind got word about the film from his underlings, and saw an opportunity to sow chaos. He also wanted to make sure he was being portrayed as evil and devious as he deserved to be. A janitor on the film set spotted him, so Mind took the place of the mechanical worm to hide in plain sight. Hitchblock needed an extra to play a boy in peril who the Monster Society would fling off a cliff, and Captain Marvel changed into Billy Batson to volunteer. Mr. Mind alerted his new Monster Society recruits, the Crocodile Men, and had them take the place of the other actors in the scene. The Crocodile Men were supposed to pull Billy back from the cliff edge at the last moment, but ignored the director and tossed Billy to his doom. (Captain Marvel Adventures v1 #38)
Mr. Mind had his Crocodile Men later round up Hitchblock and his actors, planning to film Mr. Mind, Murder Master!. In the film, he would depict the Monster Society taking over the world. He had his lackey Bonzo go to the dressing room to play the part of Captain Marvel. Billy survived his fall, since the jagged rocks he landed on were rubber props, and after changing into Captain Marvel he took Bonzo’s place. Mr. Mind wanted to film the Crocodile Men torturing Hitchblock and his crew to death, but the weapons the Crocodile Men chose were all rubber props, infuriating the villain. Captain Marvel revealed his presence, knocking out the Crocodile Men after a brief brawl. Mr. Mind had another trick up his sleeve, activating his Black Death Ray and turning it on Captain Marvel, who started to dissolve into a cloud of smoke. (Captain Marvel Adventures v1 #39)
Afterwards, Mister Mind approached the Sivana Family about re-organising the Monster Society to enact a new scheme against the Marvel Family. This saw Ibac join their ranks as the villains looked to use special tools against the superheroes. (Shazam! v1 #14)
Mister Mind came to reform the Monster Society that now included Oggar amongst their ranks as they made a new plot against Captain Marvel. (World's Finest v1 #264)
Post-Flashpoint
Following the Flashpoint, a new version of reality was created with a different history of events.
Originally, the Monster Society consisted of a group of villainous beings from the different parts of the seven Magic Lands who rallied under Mr. Mind. Long ago, they battled the Wizard only to be defeated and imprisoned where they were chained in cells for all eternity. (Shazam! v3 #11)
Mister Mind and Doctor Sivana plan to head to the Monsterlands in order to build the Monster Society of Evil from its inhabitants. As King Kid fights the Shazam Family in Philadelphia, Doctor Sivana and Mister Mind are directed to a boat by Dummy who cannot accompany them since he cannot deal with water. When they arrive at the Dungeon of Eternity, Mister Mind states that the inmates of the Dungeon of Eternity were gathered from all over the Magiclands and imprisoned for challenging the Council of Wizards. In addition, Mister Mind stated that the Monsterlands used to be called the Gods' Realm until the day of Black Adam's betrayal which led them to strip the gods of their powers and close the doors to the Magiclands. They find a small prison containing Superboy-Prime in the Monsterlands as Superboy-Prime states that he can hear what Mister Mind is saying. Mister Mind and Doctor Sivana begin their plans to free the Monster Society of Evil from the Dungeon of Eternity. (Shazam! v3 #10)
After being freed, Mr. Mind formed an alliance with Dr. Sivana who made his way into the Magiclands in order to free the Monster Society. Once freed, they emerged into the Earthlands in order to battle the Shazamily. (Shazam! v3 #11)
In the fight, the Society looked to overwhelm the heroes when Superboy-Prime arrived at the scene where he killed the Goatman. He then turned his attention to the other members of the Monster Society. This in conjunction with the Shazam Family fighting the villains led to their defeat. Meanwhile, Shazam himself had used magic to shrink himself and fight Mister Mind within the head of C.C. Batson where he defeated the worm by breaking his electronic voice box thus preventing him from casting anymore spells. Upon being restored to his original size, Shazam then went about restoring the Magiclands back to normal whereupon the defeated members of the Monster Society were imprisoned at the newly established Rock Falls prison facility that was made to contain magical supervillains. (Shazam! v3 #14)
