Anguirus is a ferocious and gigantic ankylosaur-like monster.

Showa
Anguirus first battled the second Godzilla in Osaka. Later, Anguirus became a staunch ally of Godzilla, living alongside him on Monster Island and helping him against Gigan and King Ghidorah. Later, he intercepted Mechagodzilla while the robot was disguised as the genuine article, resulting in Anguirus receiving a savage beating.
In 1999, Anguirus was among those monsters used by the Kilaaks. After being freed, he assisted Godzilla and other monsters in a final defeat of Ghidorah.

Anguirus was a kaiju native to a lake in Russia who helped defeat Gigan.
Comments
Anguirus was also known as Angilas and Anzilla. The Showa version of Anguirus was actually killed by Godzilla after they battled in Osaka, but this was ignored in subsequent films.
