History
The Chantry was a religion that formed among humans in the lands of Thedas. Originally, it formed as the Cult of the Maker and was among the many cults that formed among the legend of the martyrdom of Andraste. During its early existence, it lacked a formalised structure or leadership with its many followers actually being oppressed where the had to hide their teachings from the magisters of the Tevinter Imperium. By -130 Ancient, practitioners began to grow in popularity as their teachings became more organised though it still remained fragmented until it was formalised bythe actions of Kordillus Drakon who was the first emperor of Orlais. In -3 Ancient, he established the creation of Andrastianism as a national religion and himself as a fervent believer in the Maker thus leading to the creation of the Chantry.
