Number 3 was the third-highest ranking operative of SPECTRE, right after Number 2 (Emilio Largo). Originally Number 3 was Rosa Klebb, but following her death she was replaced by an unidentified Asian man. This Number 3 was present in Ernst Stavro Blofeld's secret volcano lair in Japan, where he apparently had total authority over all base personnel and also served as the "countdown voice" for the launching of Bird 1 and its subsequent attacks on Russian and American spacecraft. When Tiger Tanaka's ninjas invaded the volcano, Number 3 was killed when the control room exploded.
