- Thaddeus 'Thunderbolt' Ross was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby where he made his first appearance in The Incredible Hulk v1 #1 (May 1962).
- The character was turned into the Red Hulk by Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuiness where he made his first appearance in this identity in Hulk v2 #1 (March 2008).
Alternate Versions
- In Future Imperfect (2015), one version of Ross appeared on Battleworld where he was Dystopia's version of the Thing. His past was shown where he was an astronaut with fellow pilot John Talbot who were exposed to cosmic rays before crashing back to the surface. Talbot was killed and Ross was transformed into the rock-like Thing where he became an enemy of Baron Maestro.
