Origin
Sunagakure (砂隠れの里, Sunagakure no Sato, literally meaning: Village Hidden by Sand) was a hidden village of shinobis situated in the Land of Wind in the Ninja World.
Naruto
It was then that the village was approached by two members of the Akatsuki where through spies they gained entry into it. This saw Deidara looking for the jinchuriki where his infiltration was discovered by Gaara leading to a battle between the pair. At first, Gaara came to put up a fight against Deidara but he gained the advantage by targeting the village itself and through trickery where he managed to defeat the Kazekage. This allowed him to claim the jinchuriki where he joined his compatriot Sasori as they escaped to their headquarters. Traps were used to eliminate any pursuers with Kankurō being badly injured in an encounter with Sasori.
