She came to be raised alongside Thanos's other adoptive daughter Nebula though there was a high degree of enmity between the two. (Gamora v1 #1)

Annihilation

This saw her arriving on the world of Godthab Omega where she carved a retreat for herself high up in the most treacherous and inhospitable of mountain ranges at Mount Virago. From there, she came to gather other female warriors who formed the Graces that served under her with Gamora herself being treated as a living goddess. She came to find a new purpose with her acolytes where they began conquering the planet slowly by subjugating each settlement under their rule. Eventually, her forces came upon a Kree settlement which was where Korath the Pursuer resided and targeted him after the resisted the Graces. This led to an encounter with Ronan the Accuser who was similarly attacked but he helped fight off the Graces with them reporting their failure to Gamora.
