History
Task Force VII was a government made team consisting of Amazo androids built on behalf of Amanda Waller as part of her efforts to contain Earth's superhuman population. (FCBD 2024 Absolute Power Special Edition v1 #1)
Various weapons were gathered by government forces for the express use in capturing superheroes. Among these included the Justice Buster suit but these failed in their desired goal during one assignment to arrest the Flash. As a result, Waller came to order the deployment of the Amazo's who were christened as part of Task Force VII and for them to be deployed into the field. (The Flash v6 #10) The Bureau of Sovereignty flooded the media with A.I. generated footage of superheroes seemingly rampaging and slaughtering civilians, creating a nationwide wave of anti-metahuman hatred and several violent attacks on superheroes by angry mobs. To counter the narrative the superheroes went out in force to rescue people, gathering into groups for protection; however, this was just what Waller had intended. Each member of Task Force VII attacked a specific group of heroes, whereupon they drained their powers and easily overpowered them. (Absolute Power v1 #1)
The members of Task Force VII were each initially implanted with a simple copy of Failsafe's program. However, absorbing the heroes' powers caused the members of Task Force VII to also take on some of their character traits. They began to develop personalities distinct from Failsafe, reducing their effectiveness as they evolved beyond mindless killer robots. (Batman v3 #150)
Overview
In appearance, Task Force VII were a team of androids based on Amazo. (FCBD 2024 Absolute Power Special Edition v1 #1) They were also referred to as the Amazo Army. (Superman v6 #16)
As an Amazo, they had the ability to copy superhuman abilities from their targets. In the process, they came to steal the abilities from them and leave them powerless. (Absolute Power v1 #1)
Part of their construction saw the implantation of Time Commander's Houseglass. (Green Arrow v7 #16) This allowed them to reverse the effects of time thus removing any damage done to their bodies. As a result, the Amazo's gained a form of healing as any damage was restored within moments. (Absolute Power v1 #4)
Assisting them were an army of 'baseline' Amazos constructed by the Bureau of Soverneighty to supplement their forces. (Absolute Power: Task Force VII v1 #2)
