XS was a super-speedster and descendant of the Flash and the Tornado Twins; alias Jenni Ognats, she was a native of the 30th century. Her speed powers manifested when a force of Dominators captured Jenni and her father, and tortured the latter after trying to examine her genetic makeup. After escaping with her father and taking refuge with the United Planets, she was eventually drafted into the Legion of Super-Heroes. XS later met her cousin Impulse and other speedsters during a visit to modern times, and expanded the range of her powers under their tutelage.
