Most native animal and plant life evolved into more dangerous forms to compensate. Savage himself was the last sentient being on the planet, and was unhinged from his isolation. Superman found himself displaced here by the Toyman's tachyon weaponry, and met with Savage after surviving for days or weeks on his own.
