- David Cain was created by Kelley Puckett and Damion Scott where he made his first appearance in Batman #567 (July 1999)

- In Batman: Arkham Origins, David Cain was referenced though did not appear in the video game. He was mentioned on a file of assassins rejected by Black Mask who considered hiring Cain's services to assassinate Batman. Cain had a rejected stamp on him alongside the likes of Cheshire and Black Spider. Shiva's profile also made mention of him as being one of her associates.
