History
Overwatch was a special forces military division created by the United Nations in response to the Omnic Crisis.
Afterwards, the existence of a top secret division of the organization was found named Blackwatch with this being revealed where reports came of this branch involved in assassination, coercion, kidnapping, torture and similarly shocking acts. This led to a call by governments on the U.N. to shutdown Overwatch due to its aggressive acts along with repeated violations of many countries sovereignty.
This led to its agents being targets of scorn and suspicion by the media. After the creation of the Petras Act, the activities of Overwatch were deemed as being illegal and meant that its operatives were liable to prosecution for continued operations.

In appearance, Overwatch was a collaborative international organization that was once maintained by the United Nations.
It once maintained a top-secret black-ops division known as Blackwatch whose existence was kept secret from the public.
At its height, it maintained a number of bases around the world with these being called Watchpoints that were each dedicated to a specific purpose such as peacekeeping, scientific research or other such tasks. Even more specialised bases were Ecopoints that were made as monitoring stations for studying the planetary climate.
