History

The Kazon were a humanoid race of beings that were native to a world in the Delta Quadrant. They were a pre-warp civilisation when their planet was encountered by a more technologically advanced race known as the Trabe. They came to conquer the Kazon homeworld who subjugated the species and incorporated into their own society. Eventually, the Kazon came to rebel against the Trabe forming sects that fought against the oppression of their conquerors. A tactic used to keep the Kazon in line was the Trabe encouraging the species to fight amongst themselves with this being used as a means to control them. (Episode: Alliances)

After seeing a display of the advanced technology on U.S.S. Voyager, specifically the replicator and transporter, the Kazon schemed to steal these machines and incorporate them into their own ships. Captain Kathryn Janeway refused to provide the hostile alien species with any information regarding Voyager's technology because of her fear of upsetting the power dynamics in the Delta Quadrant and thus violating the Prime Directive. (Episode: Caretaker)
