Madame Monstrosity is a female comic supervillain who features in Marvel Comics.

Biography

Melody Stillwell was a female human who was born on Earth. By adulthood, she came to be married to her husband Jeremy Stillwell. (Spider-Boy v2 #6) The couple were noted to have had three children named Farley Stillwell, Harlan Stillwell and Shannon Stillwell. (Amazing Spider-Man v6 #31) Becoming a scientist, she was inspired by the works of the High Evolutionary. (Spider-Boy v2 #5)

Perfecting her gene-splicing technology, she developed the means of merging humans with animals. This led to the creation of a hybrid that she referred to her as her Humanimals. She established a laboratory for her work at the stately Stillwell Manor that was far removed from the city. Whilst there, the Stillwells began turning unwilling test subjects into Humanimals who were then treated as their personal slaves and servants. These Humanimals were deprived of their identity and names where they were forced to labor at the Farm. In exchange, a promise was made that they would eventually be either turned back into being a human or a transformed into an entirely different animal form. Any who had attempted to leave the Farm were eliminated. In this time, Melody's husband Jeremy was spliced with an owl as part of a demonstration. However, when reversing the procedure, something had gone wrong as though the human and animal were separated their minds had switched places. Thus, Jeremy's mind now resided in the owl whilst the owl's was in his human body. Melody then worked to find a way to restore her husband back to normal whilst maintaining his comfortable life at the manor with them tended to by their Humanimal servants. (Spider-Boy v2 #6)

Her sons were noted to had used her work to transform others into animal/human hybrids. Farley Stillwell was responsible for turning Mac Gargan into the Scorpion where he was killed afterwards. Similarly, Harlan Stillwell was involved in similar work that saw Richard Deacon being turned into the Human Fly with him also being killed as a result. This left Shannon Stillwell as Madame Monstrosity's only surviving child. Madame Monstrosity later came to believe that her work was co-opted by others leading to the transformation of people into animal hybrids. Among those transformed in this manner included Curt Connors, Michael Morbius and the Rhino. (Amazing Spider-Man v6 #31)

Personality and attributes

As a geneticist, she came to take the name of Madame Monstrosity. Some of her servants sometimes referred to her as Madame M. (Amazing Spider-Man v6 #31)

Madame Monstrosity did not tolerate anyone daring to attempt to copy her research, not even her own children. She claimed that terrible things had happened to everyone who had co-opted her work. (Amazing Spider-Man v6 #31)

At some point, she was noted to had married her husband Jeremy Stillwell. (Spider-Boy v2 #6)

She had three children with these being two sons named Farley Stillwell and Harlan Stillwell whilst having one daughter named Shannon Stillwell. All her children were noted to had similarly become scientists that specialised in the fields of genetics. (Amazing Spider-Man v6 #31)

Stillwell was noted for idolising the High Evolutionary and being inspired by his work. (Spider-Boy v2 #5)

Powers and abilities

A noted geneticist, she specialised in the splicing of humans with animals. (Amazing Spider-Man v6 #31) Her work was inspired by that made by the High Evolutionary. (Spider-Boy v2 #5) A special chamber was used where a human and animal were placed which spliced the two organisms together into a humanoid hybrid. (Spider-Boy v2 #6) These creations of hers were referred to her as being her Humanimals. (Amazing Spider-Man v6 #31)

For her test subjects, she assigned a number to each of her Humanimals. (Spider-Boy v2 #1) Their entire sense of entity was erased and they were then provided a new name. (Spider-Boy v2 #6) Their name was based on their respective animal forms where they were forced to act as her servants. (Amazing Spider-Man v6 #31)

Her base of operations was the stately Stillwell Manor located up Westchester County in New York. (Amazing Spider-Man v6 #31) This secret laboratory was also known as the Farm that was the home of her creations. (Spider-Boy v2 #1)
