History

Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organisms (M.O.T.U.) was the designation given to a class of organism that once inhabited the Earth thousands of years ago. This species and others like it once dominated the world where they fed on radiation that was richly present in their environment. However, in time, the habitat began to change leading to the death of many of these Prehistoric creatures whilst others buried themselves deep underground to feed on the radiation from the planet's core. The M.O.T.U. type of creature were a parasitic race that fed on nuclear energy with two spores containing a male and female surviving the death of one of the Prehistoric animals where they remained buried deep underground in an area of the Philippines. There they remained for thousands of years until 1999 where a dig by Universal West Mining disturbed the site. One of the spores containing a male M.O.T.U. broke free where he travelled across the ocean to Japan's Janjira region in order to feast on the nuclear energy of a power plant. The incident devastated the area killing dozens with the area being declared a Quarantine Zone. The M.O.T.U. responsible fed on the energy from the plant in order to envelop itself within a cocoon as it embarked on its next stage of development. In this time, Project Monarch had arrived where they studied they created a research facility to study the cocooned and find a way to kill it. The other spore was believed to had been a dead fossilized remain though Monarch made an attempt to terminate it with the creature inside seemingly believed to be killed. Thus, its body was taken to the United States of America where it was dumped at a fortified nuclear waste facility. In the mean time, Monarch continued the study of the sole surviving M.O.T.U. in the cocoon for the next 15 years.
