Biography

Origin

Epoch

It was said that it was Anakronus who informed him of the time era of the 20th century thus bringing the Lord of Time to that period of history. He helped the time lord in building weapons but stayed in the side lines as his ally battled the Justice League. (Justice League of America v1 #114)

He created the Eternity Brain as a means of plundering the past but came to learn that if the machine's time manipulation abilities were activated that it would freeze time permanently. Furthermore, the independent nature of the machine meant that it would not follow his commands. Thus, he secretly began to plot its destruction as he felt it was a danger to himself. (Justice League of America v1 #160)

Epoch

Post-Flashpoint

Following the Flashpoint, a new version of reality was created with a different history of events. Epoch who was known as the Lord of Time was a noted time manipulator whose manipulation of history was known even to the New Gods of New Genesis. (Justice League Odyssey v1 #18)

After the destruction of the Source Wall, a number of universal threats emerged that included a reborn Darkseid, the Apex Predator form of Lex Luthor, the omniversal being Perpetua and a fourth known entity with all these becoming a danger to existence itself. Their effects on the timestream affected Epoch himself with the Lord of Time making measures to eliminate them from history. To achieve that end, he had a Revision Mechanism created in the modern age and came to ally with a team tied with the Justice League in ending these universal threats. (Justice League Odyssey v1 #18) They were tasked with protecting him until he could use his machine to alter the timeline. (Justice League Odyssey v1 #19)

During the attack, Epoch made temporal duplicates of himself to defend the Revision Mechanism with one being killed by Darkseid himself. It was then that the Eshkaton was unleashed on Darkseid to provide a distraction for Epoch to reach his machine to change reality. However, Jessica Cruz was determined to destroy the machine as she felt it too powerful for anyone to use and that the fourth threat the Lord of Time had registered was actually himself as his incorrect use of the mechanism threatened to collapse reality itself. He refused to listen to Cruz and used his powers to send her away whilst he continued work on his machine. (Justice League Odyssey v1 #21)

Overview

Personality and attributes

Due to his powers, he was known by the title of the Lord of Time. (Justice League of America v1 #10)

It was said that he was a brilliant man though a misguided one also. (Justice League Odyssey v1 #21)

Epoch was said to not be a combatant and instead relied on his powers to win his battles. (Justice League Odyssey v1 #21)

He created the Eternity Brain to allow him to plunder the past. (Justice League of America v1 #160)

One of his allies was a figure known as Anakronus. (Justice League of America v1 #114)

Powers and abilities

It was said that his brain was fourth dimensionally formatted. (Justice League Odyssey v1 #19) Epoch made use of transtemporal technology allowing him to travel anywhere in history. (Superman/Batman v1 #80) He was able to observe variations in the timeline allowing him to perceive multiple events in the future and the consequences of certain actions. This allowed him to evaluate an opponent's strengths and their weaknesses. (Justice League Odyssey v1 #19) With his powers, he could summon warriors from the past or the future to aid him in battle. (Justice League of America v1 #10) These included weapons from other civilisations such as Pack-System Mechoids of Qwardian in origin. (Justice League Odyssey v1 #19) He could generate closed time loops that could trap enemies in in temporal recursions from which a foe could not escape and were doomed to repeat for infinity. (Justice League Odyssey v1 #21)

Epoch could utilise temporal duplication in order to create versions of himself drawn from the past. If killed, the injuries were sustained on Epoch's own person and he was forced to patch his own time-thread with an emergency splice. (Justice League Odyssey v1 #21)

The Lord of Time was able to compress the entirety of history of individual worlds into small handheld spherical crystal form devices. (Justice League Odyssey v1 #19)

He was typically armed with his Anti-Hourglass device that he could use as a weapon against his enemies. With it, he could manipulate time such as unwind events to an earlier moment. To travel through time, he made use of a Chrono-Cube that was a craft that allowed him to journey through the timestream. (Superman/Batman v1 #79) Anakronus was said to had played a part in helping the Lord of Time in developing his arsenal of superweapons. (Justice League of America v1 #114)

The Lord of Time was able to create a machine called a Revision Mechanism that was able to remove threats from the timeline and thus alter history. (Justice League Odyssey v1 #18) To utilise it, he had to factor in all events in order to prevent a collapse of the space-time continuum. (Justice League Odyssey v1 #19)

He operated from his Palace of Time that was situated in a dimension adjacent to the year 3786 A.D. Inside the structure was the Eternity Brain that was created by him to be the ultimate time machine and was programmed to be capable of stopping the flow of time. It was made to be completely independent in order to protect it from his enemies. The computer was capable of protecting itself and did so through an means necessary such as by opening time portals to bring individuals, creatures or objects into its vicinity that were sent to battle any attackers. (Justice League of America v1 #160)
