Perry White

He dispatched Clark Kent and Lois Lane to get a story from star prosecutor George Lash. (Superman v1 #7)

Post-Crisis

Following the Crisis on Infinite Earths, a new version of reality was created with a different history of events.

At some point, he was married with his wife being Alice White who became the mother of his son. (Adventures of Superman v1 #428)

  • Perry White was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster where he made his first appearance in Superman v1 #7 (November, 1940).
  • The character Perry White was created for The Adventures of Superman radio serial where he was voiced by actor Julian Noa before he transitioned into the comic books.
  • In Action Comics v1 #278 (1961), the character adopted the name Masterman after briefly gaining superpowers.
  • In Superman v1 #147 (1961), he briefly adopted a superhero guise as Mento claiming ESP powers which was actually a trick designed to apprehend criminals that were coming to Metropolis.

  • In Superboy, Perry White did not appear in the live-action television series but his son T. J. White appeared as a character.
  • In Justice League Action, Perry White appeared in the setting of the animated television series in the episode "Superman's Pal, Sid Sharp" where he was voiced by actor Piotr Michael.
  • In Supergirl, Perry White was heard in a telephone call that Clark Kent had with him in the live-action television series in the episode "The Adventures of Supergirl".

Films

  • In Superman Returns, Perry White appeared in the live-action film where he was portrayed by actor Frank Langella. He was the editor in chief at the Daily Planet with him having a nephew named Richard White who was also a reporter. Richard White later married his co-worker Lois Lane with the pair having a child named Jason White.
Originally, the character was to be portrayed by actor Hugh Laurie but a schedule conflict meant he had to drop out of the role.
  • In the DC Extended Universe, Perry White made a number of appearances in the shared continuity setting.
    • In Man of Steel, Perry White made his first appearance in the live-action film where he was portrayed by actor Laurence Fishburne.
    • In Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, Perry White returned in the live-action sequel where he was portrayed again by actor Laurence Fishburne.

Video games

  • In Superman: Shadow of Apokolips, Perry White appeared in the video-game tie-in to the DC Animated Universe where actor George Dzundza reprised the role.
