- Franklin Storm was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby where he made his first appearance in Fantastic Four v1 #31 (October, 1964).
Alternate Versions
- In Ultimate Origins v1 #3 (2008), a version of Franklin Storm was shown to be in the Ultimate Marvel universe.
- In Secret Wars v1 #6 (2015), a version of Franklin Storm was shown to had existed on Battleworld.
- In Ghost-Spider v1 #6 (2020), a version of Franklin Storm was shown to inhabit Earth-65. It was known that he was a notorious serial killer who was married to famed Manhattan-based socialite Mary Storm until their divorce. The two were noted to had two children that were Susan and Jonathan Storm who were noted celebrities.

- In Fantastic Four, Franklin Storm appeared in the 1994 animated series episode "Behold, A Distant Star" where he was voiced by actor Richard McGonagle.
Films
- In Fantastic Four, Franklin Storm appeared in the 2015 live-action film where he was portrayed by actor Reg E. Cathey. This version was an African-American man who was the father of Johnny Storm and the adoptive father of Susan Storm. Franklin was shown as being a scientist who became the director of the Baxter Foundation that was a government sponsored research institute for young prodigies. Among his proteges was Victor von Doom who was his chief student and involved in the Quantum Gate project that sought to make a dimensional doorway to another dimension that could be mined for resources.
