Biography
Maki Zenin (Japanese: 禪ぜん院いん真ま希き, Hepburn: Zen'in Maki?) was a female human born as the eldest daughter of Ogi Zenin where she had a younger twin sister named Mai Zenin. She was born as a member of one of the three prominent families of Jujutsu Sorcerers namely the Zenin Family (禪ぜん院いん家け Zenin Ke?).
As a young student from Jujutsu High, she was tasked with helping to mentor the nervous teenager Yuta Okkotsu by Satoru Gojo as he wanted to train the boy so that he could help stop the curse of the undead girl Rika who was attacking everybody chasing Yuta. Early on, Maki came to mock Yuta for his weakness for being too passive and believed him to be the often subject of bullying. Although Yuta was unable to fight, he was assigned to work with Maki in exorcising a curse. When Maki was wounded, she asked Yuta what was his real desire to which he responded that he only wanted to enjoy a good life rather than remain alone. Maki encouraged him to fight for such rights which allowed her partner to control Rika for a brief period of time to escape with her. In the next three months, Maki had become Yuta's mentor in swordplay so that he could also fight alone much to her comrade's surprise. When one of Satoru Gojo's friends, Suguru Geto, appears in Jujutsu High, it was revealed that Maki is a rejected member from the Zen'in clan and mocked which angered Yuta. After the visit, Maki told Yuta her hatred towards her clan with Yuta agreeing to fight alongside her and he ended up comforting her. Geto once again appears in Jujutsu High to take Rika's Curse and ended up taking down all the students. This led to Yuta taking control of Rika to save his comrades resulting in Geto's defeat though he managed to escape in his weakened state.
A year later, Maki approaches first-years Megumi Fushiguro and Nobara Kugisaki, questioning them why are they unhappy. From a far distance, Panda whispers to her that their classmate Yuji Itadori recently died. This shocks Maki, causing her to lash out at Panda and Toge for not telling her earlier. Regardless of that, she requests the first-years to consider participating in the Kyoto Goodwill Event, explaining the overall structure of the event to them. Motivated to become stronger for the sake of their fallen friend, Megumi and Nobara accept Maki's request to join the Kyoto Goodwill Event. Maki along with Toge and Panda, help train both Megumi and Nobara before the event, she then challenges Megumi so he can improve his close-range fighting capabilities. Later when Megumi talks with the others about how he should carry weapons without occupying his hands, Toge points out that Megumi manages to figure out a way with his shadow. Later, when principal Yoshinobu Gakuganji came to Tokyo, Aoi Todo and Maki's twin sister, Mai Zenin were brought along as well. They provoked Megumi and Nobara, who were sent by Maki to do errands. While Megumi confronted Aoi Todo, Mai started to attack Nobara. The second-years manage to intervene these fights. Mai and Maki mock each other for both their lack of talent. As Maki continues to provoke Mai, this allows Nobara to sneak attack the latter, putting her in a chokehold. Afterwards, Maki explains to Nobara about her family situation. Nobara then grows to admire Maki for remaining strong even though the latter's family had disowned her.

Personality and attributes
In appearance, Maki Zenin was a tall athletic young woman with golden eyes and long black hair that was normally tied into a ponytail.
It was shown that she was a very headstrong and straightforward person who tended to be quite blunt in her dealings with others.
As a non-sorcerer, she was constantly mistreated so she eventually expelled herself from the Zenin clan. She aspired to be a great jujutsu sorcerer to spite her family.
Maki Zenin was the daughter of Ogi Zenin (禪院ぜんいん扇おうぎ Zen'in Ōgi?) of the Zenin Family (禪ぜん院いん家け Zen'in Ke?) that were a notable clan of jujutsu sorcerers. She had a younger twin sister by the name of Mai Zenin (禪ぜん院いん真ま依い Zen'in Mai?) where the siblings used to be close to one another.
Powers and abilities
Originally, Maki Zenin was born with almost no Cursed Energy with this being so low that it was comparable to an average non-sorcerer. In fact, she was unable to see curses without the use of her glasses that were imbued with cursed energy.
Officially, she was labelled as a Grade 4 sorcerer but this was not reflective of her true ability in battle. In fact, her ranking was largely due to her family who intentionally stalled her promotion to the higher ranks. Such was her talent that it was said that she could easily exorcise grade 2 curses by herself.
