Joanna Dark was a female human born in Atlanta, Georgia on March 18, 2000 where she was the daughter of Jack Dark.

She operated under the code name of Perfect Dark that was made in honor of her flawless performance in training tests.

She was described as being a highly skilled marksman, a lethal close combat fighter, and an expert pilot and driver.

- Joanna Dark was created by Rare where she featured in the setting of the Perfect Dark universe.
- The character was originally devised by video game designer Martin Hollis who found inspiration in a number of fictional heroines such as FBI agent Dana Scully from television series The X-Files and the eponymous femme fatale of the film La Femme Nikita among others.
- Her Perfect Dark Zero model was redesigned by manga artist Wil Overton.
