Biography

Origin

Maria Callasantos was a female human Mutant who was the daughter of Mr. Callasantos and Marcella Callasantos where she had a sister named Lucia Callasantos, a brother named Matteo Callasantos and their youngest sibling was Carolina Callasantos. (X-Force v1 #40) After their youngest sister was born, their father ran away as having four kids with no job was too much for him. Their mother came to blame her children and in particular Carolina where she thought that they drove their father away. Maria was only six years old when she heard her mother's words and came to blame her younger siblings for their harsh family life. One day, her father was found dead with a needle in his arm with the Callasantos family learning this from the police. Later on, her mother got involved with a man named Harry Bellinger where he was a drug user and drunk who got Marcella Callasantos messed up on drugs. In this time, their mother would often get drunk and pass out on the couch. In that time, Harry would paw at both Maria and Lucia where he tried to have his way with them. One night, Lucia was 17 years old when she wanted to get out of the house but was followed by Harry who dragged her to an alley and force himself on her. Maria had followed them and in a rage attacked Harry where she killed them. This led to the sisters being forced to hide the body. Afterwards, their mother wanted to get back at Maria for getting rid of Harry which led to her killing her daughters pigeons. It was then that Maria in anger struck and killed her mother. Lucia attempted to over for her sister and helped her find the Morlocks so that she could escape from the authorities. (X-Force v1 #41)

X-Force

For a time, Feral served well in X-Force. But then the team attempted to rescue government official Henry Peter Gyrich from the terrorist Mutant Liberation Front, led by Reignfire. Feral hated Gyrich, who was no friend to mutants, and Reignfire persuaded her to join the Mutant Liberation Front and to kill Gyrich. When Feral attacked Gyrich, X-Force's leader Cable shot her with a non-lethal charge, but then Reignfire abducted her. (X-Force v1 #28)

Feral emerged from hiding when the New York City police captured Thornn. Feral confronted Thornn and X-Force member Cannonball. Thornn revealed that she had seen Feral kill Harry Bellinger, and Cannonball provoked Feral into admitting that she had murdered her mother. Cannonball overpowered Feral, and an old friend of Lucia's, Police Detective Jose Hidalgo, arrested her for killing three members of her family and Bellinger. Thornn went free and Feral was sentenced for murder. (X-Force v1 #41) During her jail time, Feral discovered she was infected with the Legacy Virus. (X-Force v1 #90)
