A Mobile Doll is a type of mecha that feature in Gundam.

History

Mobile Dolls were a type that was a computer-controlled mobile suit that were constructed by the Romefeller Foundation. They were developed by chief scientist Tubarov at the Lunar Base where the Mobile Doll System was designed to reduce the casualty rates faced by OZ. Their use though was a source of division amongst the elite pilots of OZ which included Zechs Merquise who felt that it took away some of the nobility of combat by removing the human component.

Many Taurus suits were refitted as mobile dolls; the Virgo and Virgo II were mobile dolls from their conception.

Overview

In appearance, Mobile Dolls were Mobile Suits that were completely automated mecha and served as a kind of mobile weapon. Their design meant that they operated primarily or solely without a pilot effectively making them unmanned without a physical pilot.
