Biography
Origin
Everett Thomas
During the Phalanx Covenant, the hive-minded techno-organic race looked to assimilate the inhabitants of Earth. In this time, Thomas was at his home when the police arrived over an incident that saw windows across the neighbourhood shattering in the area. Whilst speaking to the police, he saw several of them shapeshift into Phalanx that were looking to assimilate Everett but he was saved by the timely arrival of the X-Men. Synch synced with Banshee, who was in the area, in order to defend himself from the Phalanx. However, as a side effect, he shattered all the windows nearby, which drew the attention of the local police. Even as they surrounded him, a few officers had already been infected by the Phalanx and again tried to capture Everett. He was saved by Banshee and Sabretooth, and then quickly helped them prevent yet another Phalanx attack on the White Queen and Jubilee, who had helped locate Everett. The White Queen linked her mind with Everett's and Jubilee's, which allowed Everett to synch with Jubilee and use her powers to a degree she had been afraid to, defeating the Phalanx for the moment. Generation X
During Christmas, the team inadvertently got involved in a hostage crisis when a deformed boy named Eliot, apparently a mutant, held a teacher and a group of students in the school against their will after he was rejected from enrollment. As Generation X attempted to prevent any loss of life between the scared policemen and the desperate child, events became even tenser when the child-like assassin known as Orphan-Maker arrived in order to kill Eliot's parents and kidnap the boy for his employer, Nanny. Generation X drove off the Orphan-Maker, but the stand-off ended in tragedy as the teacher, the only man who stood up for Eliot's entry into public school, died of a heart attack brought on by the stress. What's worse, Everett's power informed them that Eliot did not possess the X-gene... his appearance was simply a deformity, and not a mutant manifestation. (Generation X v1 #4)
The conflict had destabilized the entire citadel, though, and its reality began to collapse around the heroes. Emplate escaped through a dimension warp, but Everett refused to leave without first unchaining Gaia from the slab that held her to the citadel. He and Penance bailed out of Generation X's transport home at the last moment, and were stuck in the citadel's reality with Gaia. After Penance cut her free, though, Gaia showed them a separate exit through a warp chamber that led back to Snow Valley, Massachusetts. The young mutants materialized back through an innocuous store room in the back of one of Landau, Luckman & Lake's private offices. As Gaia ran off, giddy with the thrill of finally being free and Penance took off after her, Everett was held up by two local delinquents named Dorian and Weasel. They had been forced into community service work and had just spent the last three hours cleaning the store when Synch and the others crashed in. Already having had a few run-ins with Xavier's students in town, the two punks beat Everett severely, then stuffed him in their car and dumped him by the side of the road. (Generation X v1 #39)
House of X
After the establishment of Krakoa, the living island came to be a nation that was to be the homeland for all Mutants with Synch being among those to reside in the country. (House of X v1 #6)

As a Mutant, he was born with superhuman abilities where his power was to 'synch' with someone else in the area with superpowers. As a result, he was able to replicate their powers for his use. (X-Men v2 #36)
