In this guise, he was a blonde haired human male who came to be a citizen of the Clover Kingdom. He was born in the Noble Realm where by the time he turned 15 years old he came to join the Grey Deer squad of the Magic Knights with him eventually working his way up to the rank of captain.

At one point, he was wandering the kingdom in a disguise when he came to witness Yami Sukehiro demonstrate the use of Dark Magic. He came to be impressed with the young man and invited him to join the ranks of the Magic Knights. By the time of the Magic Knights Entrance Exam, Novachrono was responsible for recruiting both Faust and Yami. Julius was also responsible for teaching Yami the Clover Kingdom's language as Sukehiro was a foreigner who had been stranded in the region.

In disguise, he attended the Grimoire Acceptance Ceremony where he first encountered Yami Sukehiro and witnessed him receiving a grimoire that gave him Dark Magic. This impressed Julius who later met with the foreigner and offered him a position within the Magic Knights. Due to being from a strange land, Julius also began to teach Yami the language of the Clover Kingdom. Around this time, he also encountered a young boy named William Vangeance and saw his World Tree Magic with him similarly being impressed by the boy. The child was the illegitimate offspring of a noble and his scarred appearance meant that he had been rejected by all those around him but Julius accepted William and gifted him a helmet to hide his scars whilst offering a place within the Magic Knights. Afterwards, Novachrono participated in a conlict between the Clover Kingdom and Diamond Kingdom where he encountered Lotus Whomalt where their battle prowess.

Years later, Julius returns to the Noble Realm along with several Knights from defending against a foreign invasion. They are welcomed with joy and cheers from the Noble Realm's citizens. Six months later, Julius decides to disguise himself as an old lady and wander around Kikka's black market. He then gambles against Sekke Bronzazza, whom he manages to outmatch. Not long after, a thief snatches his belongings and runs away. Fortunately, Sekke and several other Knights from the Black Bull squad are able to apprehend the culprit and returns Julius's belongings. After the Black Bulls leave, Julius removes his disguise and has taken an interest in Asta and his Anti Magic. Subsequently, Julius receives a call from Marx Francois, who requests his immediate presence, but the Wizard King ignores his subordinate. When he is informed of an emerging problem, Julius assures him that he found the perfect candidate to solve it. Later on, Julius assigns Asta on a mission to explore a newly emerged dungeon by sending a formal letter to Yami. Julius then receives a report from one of his subordinates that the Diamond Kingdom sent Lotus Whomalt and his group to explore the dungeon. While all of his subordinates start to panic, Julius remains calm as he is confident in his Knights' abilities.

After Julius learned that the dungeon exploring mission was a success, he immediately requests a meeting with the Knights who managed to complete it. During the meeting, Julius swiftly examines one of the artifacts that Yuno, a Golden Dawn squad member, managed to retrieve. He is excited when he asks Yuno to activate it, but quickly shows his disappointment when the boy reveals his inability to control it. Subsequently, Julius decides to refrain from explaining Sylph while encouraging Yuno to grow along with it. He then proceeds on examining Asta's artifact, but Julius fails to comprehend the writing in the grimoire. When he holds onto the sword, which was summoned from the writings, Julius can feel his mana is being absorbed by the sword. He then returns it back to Asta and explains to him that the latter is the only one capable of wielding the sword because he lacks any magical power. Subsequently, Asta and Yuno ask him about the method to achieve Wizard King rank, which prompts Julius to explain the simple truth to them that anyone with great reputation could become the Wizard King. Afterwards, he invites the young Knights to attend a War Merits Conferment Ceremony alongside him as he takes them to the ceremonial hall. After he promotes several Knights at the ceremony, Julius invites all of the participants to a banquet that he had prepared, before he disappears a moment later. When the Royal Capital is being invaded, Julius remains absent as he asked Marx to cover for him.

Overview

Personality and attributes

As Julius Novachrono, he was a tall, middle-aged man with short messy blond hair and purple eyes. One of his notable features was a blue six-pointed star on the left side of his forehead. Using stored time, he came to revive himself from near death leading to him being physically regressed to that of his 13-year-old self with him being much shorter and his hair being longer yet shaggier. He also came to be known by the title of Chronovala (クロノヴァラ, Kuronovara).

Julius was generally known for his obsession with magic and often sought out magic that he had never seen before. This led to an almost childish persona erupted when he encountered a new kind of magic where he became excited upon seeing it in action.

Novachrono was shown to be a very wise man with wide knowledge and experience on magic and social dynamics.

He was typically known to disguise himself so that he could wander the kingdom and not be recognised by citizens.

He was partly inspired by the actions of Zara Ideale who had been the first commoner to become a Magic Knight. Julius had witnessed that the man fought for his ideals and to be a hero. Zara's death led to Novachrono deciding to rise up to the position of Magic Emperor and bring about positive change in the kingdom.

Julius Novachrono was a human who possessed Mana (魔マナ) that allowed him to use magic.

He came to gain a grimoire (魔導書グリモワール, gurimowāru) where the book allowed him to cast specific spells. Through this, he came to be a wielder of unusual Time Magic (時間魔法 Jikan Mahō) that allowed him to manipulate time. This allowed him to accelerate, decelerate, stop, or even reverse the flow of time. Novachrono was able to heal his injuries by reversing the time on himself or on the wounds of another person.

Among the techniques known to him included:

  • Time Restraining Magic: Chrono Stasis (時間拘束魔法『クロノ スタシス』 Jikan Kōsoku Mahō "Kurono Sutashisu") : a spell whereby a sphere with a ring and Roman numerals on it manifested over the target that trapped a foe in a time loop reliving a moment in time continuously thus rendering them immobile.

A citizen of the Clover Kingdom (クローバー王国, Kurōbā Ōkoku), he came to join the ranks of the Magic Knights (魔法騎士, Mahō Kishi) where he came to be the captain of the Aqua Deers (水色の幻鹿, Mizuiro no Genroku). Later on, he came to rise to the position of Magic Emperor (魔法帝, Mahōtei) and was the 28th figure to attain this title. The rank meant that he was the leader of the Clover Kingdom's Magic Knights and held the pivotal role in the Kingdom's military affairs.
