History

Origin

When Zarrko tricked the Thor of the future, Dargo Ktor, to travel to the past in order to combat the Thor of the present, Eric Masterson, the fighting brought another hammer wielder, Beta Ray Bill, to Earth. Beta Ray stopped the senseless violence between the two, and together, they formed the Thor Corps. Reluctant to aid the others, Masterson quickly decided to help Dargo and Bill stop Zarrko's mad scheme to become the undisputed master of time, and the three “Hammer Brothers”, as Beta Ray called them, made their way to Zarrko's ship. There they were tested against various enemies from the collective pasts, presents and futures of the Thunder god. Foes such as the King Cobra, Mercurio, the 4-D Man, Demonstaff, Skurge the Executioner, and Loki were pulled from the time stream by Zarrko to halt the progress of the Thor Corps. However, Loki, unwilling to be controlled like the others, turned on Zarrko and was ultimately responsible for his downfall. Beta Ray Bill used Zarrko's technology to return each of the heroes to their respective time lines before Zarrko's ship exploded. (Mighty Thor v1 #441)

Battleworld

The Thor Corps were composed of multiple men and women across Battleworld and served as God Emperor Doom's police force. In order to become a member of the Thor Corps, one must be worthy to wield the power of Mjolnir during a ceremony held in one of the halls of Doomgard, the Thor Corps' base of operations. They served God Emperor Doom without question. (Secret Wars v1 #2)

A group of Thors later pursued the Cabal and confronted Thanos. (Secret Wars v1 #3)

The Thor Corps later joined the rebellion against Doom and started to attack the Barons defending Doomstadt. The Thor Corps were likely decimated when Molecule Man transferred his power to Mister Fantastic, destroying Battleworld in the process. (Secret Wars v1 #9)

Overview

In appearance, the Thor Corps were a group of individuals all with the power tied to Thor Odinson. (Thor v1 #440)

On Battleworld, the Corps served as the primary enforcers of the law of Doctor Doom after he had created a world consisting of various realities merged together across the Multiverse.

Only those that were declared to be Worthy were allowed to wield the hammer. (Thors v1 #1)

A hierarchy followed by this version of the Corps included:

  • Berserker : a lower ranked position. (Thors v1 #1)
  • Lawspeaker : leader of the Thor Corps. (Thors v1 #1)

These Thors followed the Code of the Hammer that required them to put things right for deceased victims. In some cases, their investigations could bring about an Allthing that was code for a case that could spiral into importance that would bring the attention of God Doom. Such events could lead to the master of Battleworld intervening directly and could lead to the Thors on the case being stripped of their hammers. (Thors v1 #1)
